I owe Grand Seiko an apology.
Over the years, I’ve seen my fair share of Grand Seikos on Reddit and across the internet, and honestly, I’ve never been all that impressed. I’ve always thought they had nice dials but nothing that really stood out to me.
That changed this week when I visited my first Grand Seiko boutique during my trip to New Delhi. I had the chance to try on the Shunbun, and the dial genuinely blew me away.
I also tried on the Snowflake and a few other models, and I don’t think pictures or videos do these watches justice. It’s hard to appreciate just how beautiful the dials are, or how mesmerizing that smooth sweep of the seconds hand is, until you see them in person.
I definitely understand the hype and loyalty behind Grand Seiko now. Safe to say I’m a fan, and I’m hoping the Shunbun will be my next purchase.
