Spontaneous All the Things You Are
Nice day to sit outside and practice while the kids play. I’m working on using a pick again more hybrid style after trying to play only fingerstyle for a few months. Also trying to work on playing tunes solo less arrangement-y and more organically. Here’s a take of All the Things, not without its flaws. I added a little eq, compression and verb since it was an unplugged guitar and iPhone microphone.
Blues for J - Kenny Burrell solo
The first I finished of a few easy Kenny Burrell solos I am working on transcribing in the small blocks of time I can afford to give to transcribing. My playback is a solid 90% guitar hero score, but I will get the notation as accurate as I can once I’m done writing it out.
Gee Baby Ain’t I Good to You- Solo Guitar Arrangement
After listening to the Joe Pass albums “Blues for Fred” and “Songs for Ellen” pretty consistently the past couple weeks I was inspired to pick back up the Nylon string and make a new arrangement of something a little bluesy and mellow. I also stumbled on this wacky counterpoint idea to use as part of the intro. I think this is gonna end up being one of my favorites to play around with.
You’ve Got a Friend in Me
A quick take of a solo guitar arrangement of “You’ve Got a Friend in me” that I am working on. I started with a really simplified Ukelele lead sheet I found of the a section and added the other chords using some of the same ideas I would apply to a jazz standard and the bridge by ear and it was really good practice!
Beautiful Love
A solo take of Beautiful Love I recorded to test a camera I’m borrowing. Im happy with the overall time feel of the recording but I think I need to experiment more with the density of my improv and not be afraid to play more single line stuff standing on its own for longer periods of time.
Happy Weekend
Nice day to grab a battery powered amp and play outside, hope you all have a nice weekend!
Polka Dots
Trying out some new counterpoint concepts, still in the infant stage. Nothing compared to a phenomenal version someone posted a few weeks back
Our Love is Here To Stay - solo guitar, new quilter amp
Tangerine Solo Guitar Arrangement
Hi,
Just wanted to share this arrangement of Tangerine I put together last week. It was the biweekly tune of a repertoire group i participate in and was new to me. There’s a chorus of improv that’s getting closer to what I’d like to be able to do more fluently on all my tunes. Anyway, be well!
Cause we’ve ended as Lovers - reimagined for solo guitar
Just wanted to share a solo guitar arrangement of this classic Jeff Beck tune, I’ve been playing a long time in the original style but I decided to reimagine it as a mellower solo piece, in the process sucking some of the blues and rock out of it. Hope it still works as it’s own version, I improvised a little solo in the middle. fun fact, I always knew Stevie Wonder wrote this tune but I did not know it was a vocal tune that one of his wives recorded before Jeff ever touched it! Anyway, be well!
Just wanted to share a little solo arrangement of Alone Together I started messing around with this morning. I play some parts a little different each time, haven’t settled everything yet. Be well!
A little solo jazz-blues, working on trying to improvise simple distinct blues melodies while also improvising walking bass and comping at the same time fingerstyle. Working on trying to keep the momentum going while making decisions or following ideas as I go.
