Government funded forklift operator course?

Looking to enrol into a course that will direct me into forklift operating, I’ve applied for Lancashire skills hub but have recently found out they are based in Skelmersdale, was just wondering if there are any courses closer to home before I commit to the intense commute!

Any forkies in here?

Looking to become a forklift operator however forklift jobs are very sparse where I live, i am looking into getting my counterbalance and possibly reach certificate however I have no factory/warehouse experience as once again where I am from is not very industrialised.

How likely is it to get a job in Preston with no prior work experience in the sector? Has anyone else been in my position and became a full time forkie?

Career advice (England)

Hello I know this isn’t a subreddit for advice but I think a lot of people here have the experience to guide me in the right direction, currently I have no car driving license or factory experience however I am interested in becoming a forklift operator, I’ve looked for gateways and apprenticeships with no luck, I am considering getting forklift certified via a training course near me but do not want to throw away half a grand to come out with no pathway to become a forklift operator as many roles require experience, what should I do?

I’ve seen online that the best option is to get the forklift certificates and then apply for an entry level factory worker, is this my best bet?

Losing my soulmate because of a false diagnosis…

I have been together with my girlfriend for almost eight years and we have two beautiful daughters together aged one and three, we met in college when we were both teenagers and I had no doubt in my mind that we would spend the rest of our life’s together however recently things have turned sour.

It all started when my girlfriends doctor told her there is a possibility that she has cervical cancer on a routine check up, obviously we was both heartbroken, I was completely devastated and can only imagine what she was feeling on a daily basis especially since she has two very young children that depend on her.
Every day was a battle and we was both lost after receiving this news, I tried to remain brave for her sake but the situation was eating me alive, every minute of the day was a struggle trying to process the fact that I could lose her and there was nothing I could do about it.

Around a week or two into hearing this news is when I started to notice a major shift in her behaviour, she become extremely distant and nonchalant about the whole situation which further increased my anxiety, I would try and get her to open up to me and express what is on her mind but I was met with coldness and was told she doesn’t want to address it anymore,
I understood this was life changing news that she was trying to wrap her head around and told myself she was under a huge amount of stress, so I gave her space and time to collect herself which hurt me to do so.

As time went she became someone I barely recognised anymore, everything I said was a nuisance to her, when I tried to hug her she sighed, when I tried to lay by her side in bed to let her know she isn’t alone in this she would get as far away from me as possible taking the quilt with her.

The turning point is when out of the blue she wanted to end things, I explained to her she’s not herself and she isn’t thinking straight, I reminded her that the children will also be effected by this, I made it clear that if we could be on borrowed time and if things turned drastic and that I’d want to be there for her and couldn’t stand the thought of her leaving this world without me being there, she told me she doesn’t love me anymore and that hit me like a truck. Later on in the week we patched things up, it was on mutual terms and she explained to me she just wanted to make it easier for me and thought hurting me and creating distance from me would ease the pain of eventually losing her, I told her I’d rather be with her until her last days and hearing her say then words left a scar that would take time to heal, she accepted this and apologised.

A week goes by and we’re in limbo, I’m trying to give her a good balance of space and comfort to make sure she has time to collect herself but at the same time let her know I’ll always be here, things weren’t the same but there was hope. We end up going on a night out with her family and friends but every time I went near her she would usher me off or move away from me, I spent most of the night smoking outside the club and speaking to strangers, I went back into the club and saw her and her friend dancing with another guy, already feeling disrespected and left out of the circle I let said guy know he has a good taste in women but this one is mine, he smiled carried on dancing and moved along, my partner was not pleased with me. I felt the distance between us getting bigger and the love between us fading, we had another falling out and I spent some time on the couch reflecting on the last month.

Once again we settled things, communicated our feelings to each other and she apologised again for making me feel distant from her, I told myself this is a phase and once she’s had her assessment done hopefully it would be good news and we’d go back to being open and loving towards each other and sure enough she attends her assessment and great news she doesn’t have cancer!

One the downside the doctor told her that she is showing signs of early menopause which obviously still leaves lingering hurt, but either way she is cancer free and is going to live! I thought that the drought was over and we can finally live out our fairytale ending, unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

We kept going through the same problems, feeling too distant, lack of communication, no intimacy between us and my hopes of a silver lining were crushed, the nail in the coffin is when I went to go through my girlfriends tiktok reels (baring in mind I do not use tiktok) as she mentioned that’s where she expresses herself through reposts, upon going on her profile I saw a post she uploaded of her taking a mirror selfie in tight gym shorts with the angle pointed towards her bottom which looked very defined and left little to the imagination.

I was furious with her and told her I don’t see a future with her and I’ve fallen out of love with her as I barely recognise who she is anymore, she took the post down and apologised but now she is scarred from my words, I’m making this post a couple days later as I’m lost with the situation I find myself in, it’s awful because I want to spend the rest of my life with this girl but I feel as if things have gone too far and there is no coming back, we’re both in a vicious cycle of saying and doing hurtful things to each other, making up and going back to being distant with each other again.
I’m stuck on what to do now, any advice appreciated

60/40 sea time for supply chain logistics? (submarine)

Currently going through the joining process and I’ve been educating myself on what to expect, I’m curious about how much time supply chain logs spend at sea, from my research I see ‘60/40’ quite frequently. Is this a fair assessment?
