How to make a best same-sex friend

Something I've learned from my SSA is that I'm longing for a best female friend, which I've never had.

However, I'm very aware that my attractions could muddy the waters and cause me to develop sexual and/or romantic attractions to her.

Does anyone here have a same-sex bestie? Do you struggle with umwanted feelings in your relationship with him/her?

Dealing with loneliness

And the 99.99% chance I'll be lonely the rest of my life. I know being single forever doesn't mean you have to be lonely, but there is a certain type of loneliness that comes from being single.

How do you guys cope with it?

A fantasy of mine.

Not that kind of fantasy, haha.

I'm of the opinion that SSA is at least partly caused by early experiences such as abuse and peer rejection.

With that in mind, I LOVE the idea of a conference for SSA people (Christian or not) where they can heal from those early experiences. I'm likely in the peer rejection camp, so for me, a safe space to make intimate female friendships would be a dream come true.

What do you all think?

Being lesbian and Catholic

Any others in this boat? How do you navigate your (presumably unwanted) attractions? Lack of romance? Feeling different? Any sadness that comes with it?

Please, only replies from other women who experience this. Thank you.

Reintegrative therapy experiences?

Has anyone else tried reintegrative therapy to address their SSA? I tried it for a few months, thought it worked then got a painful dose of reality when I realised it hadn't.

Best museums in Derry?

Hi all,

I'm planning on visiting Derry for a day in autumn and don't think I'll manage to visit all of the museums. Which ones are a must-see?

Thanks!

Success stories for mixed-belief couples?

I'm on course to take RCIA this year, whereas my boyfriend, while spiritual, is not religious. He respects my beliefs, is very interested in them, supports me converting to Catholocism, comes to Mass with me pretty much every Sunday, and is willing to abstain from sex until marriage.

Is anyone here happily with (married or not) someone who isn't even a Christian? What sort of hurdles have you faced because of your differing beliefs, and how have you overcome them?

I know that a lot of the time, the advice that's been given on threads on this topic has been to end the relationship, but I'm hoping to read some success stories as I love my boyfriend and want to give this relationship a chance.

Many thanks in advance!
