Hi all,

So as you can imagine, we have had a busy couple of days. As such I thought I'd share some stats and just comment on rival fans who keep messaging us.

Firstly, I want to thank the only other mod, u/AliJDB, for a sub that had over 3 million people vision it on 15th July. He has been a stalwart and helped me tremendously through all the reports, abuse, and whatnot.

Secondly, Hive Protect, we've had a few threads, mails, DMs and all sorts about this from other fan bases. I know it's commented on in other subs but let's add some context.

So Hive Protect is an app that prevents people from certain subs from commenting. This came about after a certain match a while ago where fans from one sub brigaded this one in massive volume when it was just me. Now as the mod for r/lcfc, the general convention is if you brigade you get banned in the sub you brigaded and your own. This helps create incentive to stop people doing this off cuff (i.e. not creating the many fake/NSFW accounts people used... yes we can see it). Anyhow, the short of that story is the certain sub's mods decided to tell us to jog on. As such, we have been finding mods of other national team subs less amenable than club ones and use Hive Protect to just blanket prevent madness on our sub without locking it down.

As you can see from the first graphic, that automation alone stopped people from the 'usual suspects' in great volume more than Ali and I combined. This will stay in place unless we can have better support from those usual suspects (though one was better, we cannot manage their numbers if they decided otherwise). I know it's not all fans, but we don't have the manpower to filter through what we'd get in big games like the World Cup semi-final. Two mods for 3m visitors is just crazy.

Lastly, I want to extend any apologies for any mistaken removals or bans, it's been an incredibly busy few days. I woke up this morning to another 50+ reports and filtered Reddit content, which is nothing to the 100s we had on the 15th or 16th July. I want to keep the conversation flowing, but we will be removing duplicates (and looking at better ways of organising those) going forward. I hope we can improve before the next major tournament and add to the mod team if possible.

I hope that's been insightful and helpful. I try to be transparent as possible and we want this to be the sub for English fans. The only last thing I'll say is any more on the Falklands will be removed and those previous ones will be locked, it's only encouraging further nonsense.
