I go to a university that places great emphasis on methodology courses - over my polsci bachelor, I’ll end up doing 6 courses, each 5 ECTS, in different methodologies - an overall on, a qualitative, a quantitative, philosophy of science, advanced social sciences analysis methods (2 of these).

This is all very boring, and something that’s shocked me is that while I’ve been looking at unis to do exchange semesters at, none of them have nearly as many methodology courses - indeed it’s been difficult to find unis to which I can match my home uni’s courses, due to the lack of such courses.

So my question is: how important are these courses later on? Do you get better career oppurtunities if you’ve had an abundance of methodology courses like I have, or is it irrelevant?

I can’t see them ever allowing her to become a maester, but fortunately she has no interest in it. She merely wants to study the books for some months

Say a dragonriding princess of great intellect wishes to study the books at the Citadel to satisfy her curiosity. Her father indulges her, and armed with a letter from him, and a letter of recommendation from the Grand Maester who tutored her and saw for himself her intellect, she comes to Oldtown wanting access. Would the Archmaesters allow her access to the library of the Citadel?

The important add-on that the 70-character title limit couldn’t include, is that this happens before he has fully seduced her.

Say Daemon is walking around the Red Keep in 99 AC, and there he sees a travelling singer attempting to seduce his aunt. Furious, he draws his sword and beheads the singer.

Would there be any outrage in Westeros, and, in particular, with the faith? After all, the man was a guest beneath their roof when Daemon slew him for a suspected future crime. Or would everyone say, yeah, sure, the guy had it coming?

Would it be reasonable for Jaehaerys to have to exile Daemon to Essos for a few years because the Faith was up in arms about it, and Jaehaerys figured they’d calm down if Daemon left the city?

Suppose the War of the Five Kings breaks out with a big fight between pro-Joffrey and pro-Stannis forces in King’s Landing, resulting in the death of Stannis, but the survival of his cause as his followers (including Ned) escape King’s Landing and muster their forces.

Would Ned now push for Shireen to become the first ever queen, as her father’s heir? Or would he prefer Renly, both due to traditions favouring brothers over daughters in royal succession, and because it’d be more practical to have an adult male leader like Renly during all out civil war, rather than a little girl?

For this thought experiment, assume that Ned is certain that Renly will back Shireen if he does so, and won’t form a third faction in the Civil War.

I could see Ned being stubborn enough to consider Shireen Stannis’s heir, and as such the rightful ruler, even if impractical. But I could also see the honourable and dutiful Ned being a staunch supporter of following traditional succession laws for the Iron Throne, and thus stepping over Shireen. What do you think?

Was doing some brainstorming for a plot bunny, and at some point in the story I’m developing, the MC has access to a book with some arcane and powerful magic, but unfortunately has only a few minutes to read it - naturally, impossible.

He thus decides to skim through it, and then later find a pensieve and review his memory (Room lf Requirement), upon which he thinks he’d then be able to read all the pages properly.

Would this work? Or would the memory only contain those words on the pages that he actually looked at and thus properly remembers?

Looking for a fic I read perhaps a year back, where there are two SI’s. One I believe is names Cassandra Malfoy? And the other is a muggleborn. Both are sorted into Ravenclaw, and are, iirc, 3. Year when Harry starts (which is when the fic starts). Cassandra (if that is her name) is very ambitious and wants to use her magic for the greater good of the world, while the male SI is less ambitious but still brilliant. Iirc they both get involved in the conflicts in Yugoslavia, using their powers to help the civilians there. The male SI also ends up in the TWT. Apart from that there’s some Lovecraftian stuff with regards to Azkaban and how the two got there. Hopefully some of you can find it, it was brilliantly written and very funny

Say the story takes place a few years later, and Joffrey is already a man grown. When Robert dies, he can’t exactly make Ned protector of the realm over his very adult son. He probably asks him to stick around and guide Joffrey, but that’s about it. No legitimate basis for Ned to depose Joffrey, no letter with Robert’s seal. Just some baseless suspicions and accusations about Joffrey being a bastard.

What does Ned do now? He seemed to believe that Robert’s written command would be enough for him to “win”, but now he lacks this. Going before Joffrey and demanding that he steps down would now be an action without any legitimacy behind it. Would he still try, and get betrayed by Baelish and Slynt? Or would he try to flee King’s Landing, or swear himself to Joffrey and then leave soon after?

Grievous is killed by Obi-Wan during the battle of Kamino. Dooku recruits Savage to replace him, and after a few months of training, Savage is skilled enough for Dooku to discard Ventress. With Talzin’s help, Ventress seeks out Maul, and the two go to kill Dooku. Savage turns on his master, and the power of the three is enough to kill him. This is roughly a year before the Battle of Coruscant.

What happens next? I imagine that Sidious would seek out Maul and restore him as his apprentice, but what happens to the war in the meantime? Does the CIS seek out a ceasefire? Would the Republic even accept this without major concessions now that they have the upper hand?

Going on a first date tomorrow, at a restaurant. Now normally you might say that that’s too soon for flowers, but in one of my first messages to her on hinge, I made a joke about our first date, mentioning flowers. Her reaction was very positive, saying that she loves receiving flowers. Now on the evening before, she’s telling me how excited she is to see what colours I pick. So safe to say, the weird thing at this point would be not bringing her flowers lol.

Anyway, I know her favourite flowers are tulips. She wears red in two of her images, so I figure one of the flowers should be red. Apart from that, I’m lost. I’ve heard some say yellow is a good colour, others say that it symbolizes friendship. So what do I do? And do I mix flowers, or do I stick to tunips only?
