I will be interviewing for a motion design position at a publishing company based in NYC. I have only ever worked freelance. This position is full-time freelance and I am not used to negotiating for this kind of role. I believe I would be mostly working on social media content using after effects mainly but they also want me to do some 3D work which is no problem. A friend who works at the company recommended me for the position and the hiring manager saw my works and said he loved it. Would anybody be willing to provide some insight on what I should ask for as a day rate? I can also provide my website if thats helpful to better assess what an appropriate day rate might be. I am currently working as a TA in an elementary school in Long Island to gain experience. I am considering enrolling in a masters in elementary school but am also interested in a masters in CTE (Career and technical education) to teach media communications: (Video Editing, Graphic Design, ETC.) I am worried that it will be much more difficult to find a job teaching that subject vs childhood education. Media Arts are my passion and i'd love to teach that if possible. I also love working with children, my TA experience has shown me how important and rewarding it is to work with young children. I'd really appreciate any insight in to the job market for CTE teachers, specifically in media communications.
