BSc Horticulture from a new/mediocre college vs BSc Botany from a local college — what would you choose?
I'm a PCB student from West Bengal and I'm really confused about my bachelor's.
My qualifications: 12th pass (PCB), currently looking for a bachelor's degree.
I have 3 options:
BSc Horticulture from a new university in another state. The university isn't very established, faculty are largely guest faculty, and I might even get a sub-campus with fewer facilities. But horticulture is a specialised degree with some agriculture/horticulture-specific career options. Also the Uni I'm getting is budget friendly.
BSc Botany from a local college + prepare for government exams alongside it. Much cheaper and I'd stay at home, but I'm worried that Botany has limited career options without MSc/higher studies.
A specialised BSc like Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry from a private college, but my budget is quite low.
So what would you choose?
I'm mainly confused about whether a specialised degree from a mediocre/new college is actually better than Botany from a decent local college, especially if I want good career options and a backup if government exams don't work out.
Would really appreciate opinions from people who have actually studied these subjects or are working in these fields.
