Aussie FJ Import? Good idea?

Hi all, I'm an American near the West Coast and I got my dream car 5 years ago. FJ-Cruiser 2014 with 145k miles on it (75k when I got it from some garage in a desert). I tell people I plan to be buried like a Viking in this thing.

Issue is, I have an opportunity to snag my absolute dream job in Melbourne. I'm scrambling to figure out logistics and am curious if I can have my cake and eat it too by importing the Cruiser.

I know the parts are hard to come by over there and my understanding is that what flys in the US might not fly in Australia from a emissions perspective. (Maybe HiLux might be more available?)

Anyone tried this? Aussies and ex-pats alike, I'd love to know what happened, what I should consider, is there a market to flip it if I needed to, since it's a rare vehicle? Should I just sell it to my very capable cousin?

thanks

"Bang" volume knob

Hi all,

A friend of mine has this lovely radio that belonged to his grandfather and asked me about an issue it has. He says it sounds great except if you actuate the volume knob at all it sounds like a gunshot, including when you turn it on (also using the volume knob). If it's powered on via plugging it (bypassing the knob) in at the volume you'd want, it has no issue.

Things we covered:

Head - look good

Dusty board/components - seems fine/clean

Wiring - tbd (this is my theory, I told him to try to rewire this)

transformers on the board - nothing notable

I also think power could be suspect but idk how to troubleshoot that.

what else should we be looking for? I've built a few diy Bluetooth speakers and he's done some basic appliance repair, but neither of us are super technical.

thanks!

edit: radio in question is a Sony ICF-9740

Yes it's covered in solar lights, I'll get to that.

Never had a euphorbia before. I found this guy (and the others in the BG) left by my dumpster after a move. Couldn't lift the pot, so I dug him up and took as much of the dirt as I could to my apartment (second to last image). He had obviously been chopped at some point in his life, but was green and healthy with a significant amount of corking. I potted him with mostly the same dirt in this new pot with drainage holes (more than the cement pot he was in when I found him) and put him in the brightest window I have, facing southwest. That was the end of March and I watered him once when I repotted and once more when the soil was dry up to about 3". One week later, success! New growth (last image)! I added the solar lights, loosely wrapped in order to make sure enough light would continue to getting to the plant and have adjusted his position in the window accordingly to max out the sun time since my window is somewhat blocked by trees now that they're filling in. (I intended to adjust them as the plant grew)

The soil dried out again after another 10 days and I watered him again. Then the smaller branch began to whither last week. It went from a little purple to where we're at now in five days and spread to the other stem in that time. I thought I'd underwatered it and made the mistake of adding more water, then realized what I'd done and put him on the patio during the day to try to dry out (we're in an arid but ATM cold at night climate). The top of the soul dried out.

I checked the roots today. They were never fibrous, but everything is firm and springy with no squishyness or black strings. The soil was still a little moistw from when I watered it last Friday

I don't want to touch it anymore. It's too wet probably, but wow, do these things die so quickly? I'm a little worried about mildew and have sprayed it with a neem and water mixture, moved it away from the window and put the fan on, which is what's pictured in the first image.

Is he gone? Disappointing since it's obviously an old stalk. Thanks all.
