The ultimate Serie a prediction(long read)
I know its early, but I wont have time in the next two weeks cause of exams, so had to had to do it a bit earlier. I'll be honest I dont trust most of the prediction Ive done, If I could I would have put them all in european places, but alas I cannot. Writing is shit, but please push through it and read it all. I would also love to hear your predictions, be it the rankings, capocanoniere, mvp or anything else.
- Frosinone
The defense leaves a lot to desire, at goal they have Palmisani, a young 1.96m keeper who seems quite promising. Monterisi will be the leader of the defense and the only one whos had a full season at serie as a starter. Akpoguma, there to provide the experience of a veteran. Amey and Calvini tow prospect who will look to break out. They also have the twins Oyono at rightback.
At midfield there's Cichella(has good technique), that's it the others I'm not familiar with. Luis Hasa is one to watch. A silky midfielder who isn't afraid to take his man on, likes to switch the ball outwide, or beat his man and play a splinting through ball. Not the best defensively but he excels at ball recoveries.
Leading the attack is Raimondi, the bologna loanee, scored 11 goals last season. For him it must be now or never to cement himself as a serie a striker. At the time Im writing this they are rumored to bring Romano Schimd. He'll be the much needed left winger and most likely primary creator for the team.
Alvini, the coach, a person who idolizes Sarri's Napoli and who prefers a young team(the team average age is 24,4). This will be his second stint at serie a after an experience with Cremonese in 21/22 season. He likes to play a 433 or a 4231. He had Frosinone be one of the best attacking and defensive teams last year.
I have them at 20th cause they just lack the quality, but having a young team means they might grow a lot or crumble mentally during the season. I believe the second will happen. they will go 3 months winless, hire D'Aversa but he wont be able to save them.
- Lecce
Huge signing in the name of Willem Geubbels, a striker with 45 goal in 183 games. 27 goal in 83 matches in the Swiss super league and 8 goals in 63 matches in ligue 1.
Banda is gone, dude is signing with a Libyan side.
Tiago Gabriel is gone, to Napoli(as rumors indicate).
Team really hasn't been strengthen much.
Di Francesco will have a huge challenge to keep them up. Thankfully some key players as in Gallo, Falcone, Pierotti seem like they are staying.
Honestly Lecce scouting is pretty good, so I expect them to bring a couple hidden gems in the end of the transfer window. But I dont think that will be enough. Hopefully am proven wrong. In Di Francesco we trust.
- Monza
I have the relegated, but Juric magic with bottom half teams shall not be underestimated, remember heavy metal Verona.
The team is okayish, te attack is pretty good. Mota will be the star man, have him score at least 10 goals and a puskas worthy. Colpani will be there to take some weight of his shoulder, could see him score 2 or 3 beautiful finesse shots. Pessina to run the show in midfield, the all action Captain will be expected to lead the team to salvation.
Fiorentina will be looking out for their loanees Kouadio and Lucchesi, while inter will watch out for the very promising Akinsanmiro.
Lets not forget the two ex potential stars in Cutrone and Petagna. Never thought I would see them play together in my lifetime. A blessing I guess. How many goals do you reckon they score this season, 5 for Petagna and 8 for Cutrone is my answer.
Good luck to the heavy metal genius Juric. Also I need his agent, 2 FUCKING MILLION A YEAR IS INSANE, he is the devil there's no way.
- Genoa
De Rossi sacked in Christmas. I like his football, the way he lets his front three to roam around and switch positions with each other is very fun. But for some reason they always seem to start with a one goal handicap, their defense always has a brainfart. and idk if this is a tactical problem or a player aren't that good problem.
They some interesting players, Mitaj(likely to replace Norton Cuffy) who has very sound technique and is great at dribbling past multiple players at once. Hamed Traoré, another one who is great at beating his man. Matturo from Levante, a defender who might put an end to the brainfarts. And lastly Baldanzi, a great number 10.
Colombo's unethical shooting will both frustrating and fascinating to watch.
Vasquez remains one of the most fun wide centerbacks in the league. His aggressiveness and his all or nothing mentality is a joy to watch.
Am very excited to see De Rossiì's team ball out this season, tbh most of the rankings are random as fuck, for all I know Genoa might challenge for Europe.
- Venezia
This is a vibes only choice(spoiler everything is vibe only) cause Busio deserves a enjoyable serie a season. Dude is heavily underrated, still surprised he hasn't been called up for the American national team. El capitono is probs one of the best players of the promoted team alongside Mota and Pessina.
Venezia have splashed the money on attack bringing Rrahmani and Akor Adams, two very good strikers, and in defense they've brought Bell-Kotchap of Verona.
But the biggest problem is if Sohm can replace Doumbia. The whole left form Doumbia is huge, the creativity, the ball progression, the flair. Idk if Sohm got that.
Basic was also brought in from Lazio. He did have a decent season last year. I have him score a banger against either Lazio or Roma.
Coach is an old man who I'm not doing research on, he seems good. Had them win serie b, so he's defo good. First to be sacked.
- Lazio
If my previous choice was pure vibe, than this is based on what my current sleep deprived self finds realistic.
Lazio is pretty decent, maybe even good. But Gattuso is shit.
The midfield composed of Taylor, Cataldi and Rovella is great midfield combining athleticism, experience and technique.
In defense they have brought a great defender from Union Berlin, Doekhi. So defense is also pretty decent, considering Romagnoli is also staying.
Attack is a bit worrisome, Zaccagni as always will be the focal point, but his style of consistently foul baiting is not easy on his body at his age, so he might pick a few injuries during the season. The time he wont be available will the time Lazio will struggle a lot. Isaksen has a good game every three months, Cancellieri is hot and cold, Dia is a ghost, Ratkov unproven and raw, Noslin meh. They do have Sana' Fernandes who based on fm is pretty great dribbler with lots of flair, but that fm so who knows.
Gattuso, never good always shit and Lotito the scum will be the biggest challenges the club will face this season. I believe on Gattuso incompetence to bring this team to 15th.
Next day me here, saw rumors that they may bring Icardi, if they do they are getting top 4.
- Cagliari
Team is pretty solid. They have strengthen the midfield by a lot, bringing in Romano, Prati and Fazzini. I expect Fazzini to rediscover his Empoli form and go beyond it.
The loss of Palestra will hurt them a lot. They have brought in Maldini in attack who should be expected to bring the ability to beat his man. This is Maldini's 5th or 6th club in 5 years, he's developing to a proper serie a hot potato.
Thankfully it seems like they are keeping hold of Caprile, one of the better keepers on the league. There's also Yerry Mina, the best shithouser in football.
I expect Pisacane, who I knew would be an amazing coach, to keep the good work, keep them around midtable without fear of relegation. Maybe also a nice coppa run.
- Parma
When you think of haramball, you think of Simeone, Mourinho, Allegri or Conte. But there's a man who outdoes them big time, that man is Cuesta. Parma under him have played some of the best pragmatic football I've seen in some time. And he is only 31 years old, he has got another 30 years in him to terrorize the football world.
Suzuki is going to Psg for approximately 30 million euros, batshit crazy money someone who got outshined by the backup keeper Corvi. Talking about batshit money, Pellegrini was sold to Fiorentina for 25 million, Parma is rich.
I have no Idea where they will invest this money, but expect some crazy signings toward the last week of august.
But lets talk about signing they have already made. They have brought in EL Bilal Toure from Atalanta, a physical and pacey forward who can also dribble, had a great loan last year with Besiktas. Caviglia from Venezia, decent midfielder. Daffara a young keeper form Juventus. They also redeemed Cremaschi and Carboni.
They have got a huge defense, from what Ive seen no one is shorter the 1.80m. Delprato, the captain, is their best defender, joined by Circati. As I said before Suzuki wont be missed, Corvi has shown enough to warrant the n.1 spot.
Bernabei the magician not tied to Cuesta's pragmatism, will be the main creative outlet of the team. His teammate Keita in the other hand will be tasked to progress the ball and to cover for him in defense.
This will a quiet and calm season for parma fans.
- Sassuolo
New season, new manager. Aquilani joins from Catanzaro after Grossi left for Fiorentina. He seems pretty decent, got Catanzaro to the playoffs but sadly couldn't get promoted.
They haven't brought in many players, Adzic the one banger wonder, Dominguez the technical winger from Bologna and Bowie whos scored a couple of goals for Verona last year.
I dont think they will make more signings, maybe they bring another defender to replace Muharemovic.
The team looks very bloated with the amount of players that have returned from loan, so Im interested if some of them will stay or leave. Would like to se D'Andrea to stay.
Sassuolo's attack is one of the better ones this season. Pinamonti a solid 15 goal striker, Lauriente on the right who can do it all and Berardi on the left, who despite his age still can deliver magical moments. At the trequrtista role we have Volpato, a modern number 10.
Thorstvedt to have another great season. Maybe Lipani takes over Matic this season.
Defense is solid. Muric is the starting keeper, making Turati only exist as a concept, dude should to Venezia or Frosinone again, and see if he can get relegated again.
I want to say that Sassuolo will have a chill season, but last time I thought that they got relegated. It all depends on Aquilani competence(which I believe he is) and Berardi/Lauriente healthiness.
- Udinese
The dark horse of this season. I could see Runjaic bring Udinese back to European competitions.
They have sold Atta to Fiorentina, one of the best ball progressors, plus the mobile big man Kristensen to Atalanta.
Zaniolo will be the star of the show for them. He could become something huge for them and might the key piece to bringing the to Europe.
Davis in attack is another key player. If he can stay healthy, it will elevate Udinese attack to whole new level. In terms of hold up he's only second to Zapata, but he has also great pace on him.
Two trequartistas have also joined, Unai Gomez and Chakvetadze who will be tasked to take off some weight from Zaniolo's shoulders.
Ekkelenkamp I predict to have 3 game winning deflected bangers.
Solet the defender who loves to bomb foward, Kabasele who I thought was twenty something is fucking 35 years old and Bertola will be the most likely back three for this season.
- Torino
Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. This Gattuso quote perfectly describes them. One week they will win 3-0 the other they lose by 5 goals. Truly the most unpredictable team to exist.
Comuzzo has been brought to stop the goal leakage, spoiler he won't. They still haven't replaced Lazaro, Calabria has been linked. Also waiting for them to sign Perri from Leeds, new starting keeper. Ricardo Rodriguez is a free agent, maybe a reunion?
Midfield is chill, Casadei is the main man there. Kian Fitz-Jim is a new addition arriving form Ajax. Anjorin has been redeemed after a solid season.
Vlasic Torino's best player, will look to build on from last season's amazing form. Right now he is in his prime. Oristiano on loan from Venezia, will act as his sub this season.
The front two will be a main rotation of Zapata, Simeone and Che Adams depending on the opponent. Kulenovic from Dinamo Zagreb is a newcomer who will try to breakthrough the rotation. Njie the exciting pacey winger is one to look out for.
Baroni sacked in December. Go Toro and reclaim your throne.
- Bologna
Italiano out->Tedesco in.
Tedesco is an exciting choice, he had a great stint at Fenerbace, so much so when he was sacked the fans went absolutely mad.
The transfer window has been weird. So far they have sold, Fabbian, Castro, Lucumi, Aebischer, Ravaglia and loaned out Dominguez and apparently Dallinga as well
To replace Castro(and possibly Dallinga) in attack they have brought in Piccoli and Dovbyk both in loan. Choose who going to have the better season? If you answered Piccoli you are correct.
The wings are stacked with talent, in the left we have Jonathan Rowe whos a joy to watch and the unpredictable Cambiaghi.
On the right there's Orsolini, who was underwhelming last season and Bernardeschi who proved the doubters(me) wrong and was amazing.
Pobega, Fergusson, Moro, Odgaard, Amondarain is a good midfield. Idk if Amondarain is Freuler replacement, cause if not they really need one, someone who can bring the ball out the defense to the attack.
Another quiz, how many appearances will De Silvestri have this season? I can see him have around 15-20.
Transfer window is still open so I do expect Sartori to make more signings and shake up the team.
Bologna looks amazing in attack, good in midfield, meh in defense. They will flirt with European places for some months before starting to fall slowly to midtable.
- Atalanta
New coach in town, Maurizio Sarri. Essentially abandoning completely Gasperini's philosophy. Also a new sporting director Giuntoli. Way more ambitious moves from the board compared to last year.
In the transfer market it has been mixed, they have sold well, but haven't bought much. Gaetano and Kristensen are the players brought in, and one of them was a replacement for the departing Djimsiti.
They have arguably the best keeper in the league, in Carnesechi. Scalvini, Ahanor, Hien, Kossounu, Kristensen and Kolasinac make a strong group of centerbacks who can also cover other positions.
Bellanova and Zappacosta make a great pair for the rightback position, same goes for Bernasconi(who tbf has looked shakey in the preseason), Zalewski(who might be used as a left winger) and Bakker at left back.
Middfield is composed of the legendary captain De Roon, Ederson who can do it all, Pasalic who can play everywhere, Gaetano from Cagliari who surprisingly was tried as a 6, Sulemana back from loan(never forget the back to back volleys outside the box) and Samardzic who has look absolutely fucking amazing as a mezzala(seriously look up his goal against Schalke).
Scamacca and Krstovic will most likely consistently rotate with each other for the striker position. Dont know where Raspadori will play considering he's too slow to play in the wings, and too weak to play as a striker. Cdk is the starting right winger and the most creative. Sulemana speed and dribbling will definitely flourish under Sarri's system at left wing.
Before the season starting we are already have key players injured. The players are Sulemana, Cdk, Hien and Ahanor.
Giuntoli is still looking for a starting left winger, linked to some exciting names. In general the team need more wingers.
I believe we will start the season very slowly, will take time for Sarri ball to gel, and pick up in winter to finish strong. Honestly as long as we do good in the conference and maybe get in the final, Im happy. I'll already given up on seeing us do good in the league. Very excited to see Sarri ball.
- Fiorentina
Huge mercato for them, after a disastrous season. Attack has been been upgraded by a lot. Mastantuono, Pellegrino combined with Kean will create a scary trio.
Mastantuono is the one Im very excited for, dude has huge talent and is phenomenal on the ball. He also looks like a rock band guitarist from the 90s.
Midfield composed of Rolando "only bangers" Madragora, Atta, Ndour, Oulai, Fagioli, Fabbian and Brescianini is crazy stacked. Atta is the one to watch, he'll glide through opponents with ease.
De Gea being captain is surprising, more surprising this is his 3rd season, De Gea leaving United still feels like yesterday.
Dragusin like Camuzzi at Toro will be hope to stop the goal leakage.
Team is defo exciting, and in the very capable hands of Grossi, they will reach Europe in light speed.
- Milan
Im a big admirer of Amorim work. His United stint wasn't the best, and that would naturally as every fan in the world worry me. But he has also shown how good he is at Sporting and Braga. So if you take it as whole and not by pieces he's pretty good.
Milan looks like will sell bunch of players, so I'll talk only about the players are guaranteed to stay and the new arrivals. I think they are also selling Ricci, I would like him at Atalanta.
In defense the trio of Pavlovic, De winter and Gila will be almost certainly the starters of the back three and behind them Maignan, who I dont see leaving, will lead the team for another season.
Wingbacks I have no idea what's happening there, so no comment.
41 year old Modric is expected to be a starter with Jashari being the one to rotate with him, alongside Rabiot will be tasked to run and to run and run some more. The horse doesn't get tired doesn't he.
70 million for Psg back up striker is a weird statement signing. He is good, and I expect him to get around 15-20 goal, maybe even above that. Still weird to splash the money on him. Camarda is here after an awful loan at Lecce, will the promised wonderkid deliver or is he another Cutrone, tbf he has time.
Leao drama, has been hilarious. Whatever he does I know he will fuck it up.
If Amorim system starts clicking before winter, they get Europe, if it doesn't he gets sacked and Motta joins and plays his weird 272(its essentially 433/4231 but spelled vertically, bet dude felt like a smartass).
- Como
Champions league tax, otherwise I would have them top 4. Fabregas is a good coach, whinny as hell, but good coach.
Nico Paz staying is the biggest win in the mercato for them. Do think he will have poty worthy season. Baturina breaking from his eggshells also add another layer of attack for Como. If they get Kean, that attack might be the best in the league. Without even mentioning Kuhn, Rodriguez, Liberali and Diao.
The midfield is also elite, Perrone, Da Cunha and Caqueret create an amazing trident. Milla from Getafe(every attack was passing through him there) offer some quality depth.
Yan Cuoto is an upgrade over Vojvoda. 30 million for Chalobah is the most stupid deal of this window, this gotta be a favor for Chelsea cause what the hell. Butez was great and will be great this season as well.
I dont think Champions League will be that much of a toll for Como, but it will just enough were they will miss out of top four.
- Juventus
Spalleti ball will finally land in Torino.
Kolo Muani and Jeff Ekhator sound much better than Vlahovic and David.
The rat and Zhegrova will both have a good season. Especially Zhegrova who has looked sharp. The signing of Alajbegovic is a dream signing, he is an amazing footballer with huge potential. Boga is a quality depth option.
Then there's the star himself Yildiz, he just needs to up his numbers. Honestly midfield is ok, if they decide to play Yildiz as a 10, if not they do need a playmaker.
Defense and keeper leave a lot to desire.
They will play some entertaining football, some slumps in winter, but back in track by February. They loose to pen in EL final against Milan.
- Napoli
Idk if I should trust Allegri after last season. But I will try, allegrismo cannot be dead, can it?
This Napoli unlike Milan is tailor made for Allegri, this is the second time Allegri takes over a team left from Conte. We know what happened to the first one. So that's where my optimism comes from.
Attack is quality, Hojlund has shown that he can lead the attack, maybe Lucca rediscover himself. Alisson and Vergara were happy surprises last season, and this hope to be more than that. De Bruyne will be the key player under Allegri, be it as a sub or as a starter.
Labotka, McTominay and Anguissa is a dream midfield. The subs aren't half bad either. FOlorunsho might finally not sent on loan.
Same goes for defense and keeper.
Napoli has a world class squad, and is a scudetto favorite. Also will do well in the champions, maybe semis.
- Roma
Gasperini will challenge for the scudetto, actually he will try to win it all. Dude is trying to cement himself as one of Italy's greatest coaches, only reason he took the Roma job.
Svilar alongside Carnesrchi and Maignan is one of the best keepers in the league.
Defense has been strengthen with Koulierakis coming from Wolfsburg, a very pacey one as well. With Ndicka and Mancini that make a greed defense. The depth there is also amazing, Hermosso, Ziolkowski and Ghilardi.
Wingbacks are great. Wesly is arguably the second best left wingback after Dimarco. Idk if has a backup, so that might a position Roma looks to bring someone in. At the right Molina who seems like he was made in a lab just for Gasp.
Manu Kone and Cristante is the preferred midfield duo. Many people dont like it, but me this looks amazing, reminds me of Ederson and De Roon.
Attack is pretty elite. Castro and Malen at strikers, Soule and Dybala as the right trequartistas. They do lack another game changer in the right, they have actively been looking for one, so I guess they'll find one eventually. At backup, Pellegrini shall be good enough.
The main rivals to Inter this season. As I said before Gasp will go all out in all fronts.
- Inter
World class team all round, other than keeper.
Chivu is an elite coach.
Spence and Stones are great signings.
If Napoli's midfield was the dream one, than this out of the galaxy. Just stacked.
Lautaro and Thuram is the best attacking duo in the world, has been for years now. There's also Dimarco, no comment.
Defense and keeper actually looks a bit weaker, and might be the reason why the may loose points.
Favorites for this year scudetto.
