I want to be part of this.
A month ago I was at prompt care and sketched out my room. I posted it to a couple subreddits for drawing, and you guys were the only community that gave it any kind of notice or attention. Since then I have been absolutely enamored with not just the works of art I see posted here, but the community around it. So supportive, fun, and welcoming. For the last month I have been studying and looking for inspiration everywhere I go, breaking down real life into perspective lines and shapes.
This page is just a page of practice sketches but I wanted it share the start of what I hope will be a long, fulfilling experience.
Firework show?
If I recall from the last few years, Chico hasn't been doing the annual Silver Dollar Fairground race and firework show. Is that still the case? I saw they had one, apparently, on July 1... my kid has always wanted to go to one of these race events.
A stack of books
Day 2 of learning perspective by practicing with boxes and no reference. I'm trying to educate myself so I'm open to advice.
A balanced breakfast
I started drawing seriously again for the first time in over a decade and am trying to go back to basics to learn fundamentals. This was a simple perspective exercise, my first time trying to establish vanishing points before I just started drawing whatever.
Any feedback, suggestions, tips are greatly appreciated. I spent my life thinking great artists all saw complete works on their heads and just translated it to paper with ease, and felt like my mind was completely empty and could never do that. Now I am starting to realize that great artists use basic building blocks to map out pieces first. I have a lot to learn but I am excited.
Tabby Cat Stress Therapy
This is one of those rubber squeezable stress relief things that sits on my desk. I don't really use him for that I just think he's cute.
Love Notes #1: Bones the dog
A couple years back my wife bought these heart shaped post-it notes for fun. She visits her mom now and then for the weekend and I have taken to drawing little inside jokes or references on them and sneaking them into her bag. This one is of her Mom's dog, who absolutely loves when she comes to visit.
