Nyblit 2 update: reMarkable Paper Pro Move and Paper Pure support, Apple Calendar on your daily page, and a Mac app

Hi again folks. If you haven't seen my posts before, my name is David Margolis and I'm a developer in London. I make Nyblit, a task manager for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

A little while ago I launched a new feature right here on r/RemarkableTablet : an automated daily export of your task list to your reMarkable. You tick tasks off with your pen, and Nyblit detects the ticks and updates your tasks.

It's had a great response, and three requests came up again and again:

  • Support for the reMarkable Paper Pro Move
  • Calendars on the daily page export
  • Mac compatibility

I'm delighted to announce that, with help from several members of this community, the new version 2.1.1 supports all three, plus the new Paper Pure, and it's live on the App Store right now: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nyblit-2-to-do-list-planner/id6752837986

Nyblit 2: To-Do List & Planner

On the calendar side: Nyblit can now include any calendar you've added to Apple Calendar (iCloud, Outlook, Google, etc.), incorporated into your daily page. I've also added an in-app tutorial that walks you through setup.

For those asking about other platforms: Android and Windows versions are in early development. I'm not going to promise dates, but I'll post here when there's something to show.

Two more things:

First, please keep in mind that Nyblit is first and foremost a productivity app for managing tasks and projects in a unique way I call "state-based" productivity. It's something I started doing in FileMaker 20 years ago to help with my dyslexia and ADHD, shared with a small group of friends, and later developed into a full app. Everything is clearly explained in the app tutorials. It’s a bit like Kanban but without boards. I’m explaining this because I want you to know what you're buying into before you invest your time or money into Nyblit.

I think a few people after my last post thought Nyblit was purely a go-between for connecting other productivity apps to reMarkable, but it's not. It's designed to replace apps like Reminders, Trello and Todoist, and there's a learning curve. That said, I know some users have had success integrating Nyblit with other apps using Apple Shortcuts. That's great, but it's difficult for me to support those workflows, so you're somewhat on your own there.

My advice is to download the app and try it out. You can use it for free (fully functional) with up to 5 tasks. Complete the tutorials. If you get the “aha” moment that many people do then Nyblit is for you. If not, then please think carefully before buying it! Please don’t just buy it for the reMarkable integration!

The reason I added the reMarkable feature was because I’m a reMarkable fan. I’m a professional watch restorer by day and I use my Paper Pro in my workshop for technical drawings and notes. I manage all my work in Nyblit but I prefer to keep my phone off at work. I wondered if I could bring some Nyblit functionality to my reMarkbale. The idea seems to have resonated with a lot of people. So here we are.

Second, as ever, an important disclosure on how Nyblit uses the reMarkable API:

Nyblit connects to your reMarkable account using the reMarkable Cloud API. The authorisation technically gives the connection access to documents in your reMarkable cloud. However, Nyblit's integration is designed only to upload and download the Nyblit daily page required for this feature. Your reMarkable document contents and tick recognition are processed locally on your device and are never sent to Nyblit's servers.

You can disconnect reMarkable from within Nyblit at any time. To revoke the connection completely, you can also remove Nyblit from your device list at my.remarkable.com.

The reMarkable Cloud API is not officially supported by reMarkable, so the integration could stop working if reMarkable changes the API. For that reason, I'm keeping this feature in Nyblit Labs and treating it as experimental. We are already looking at Google Drive and Dropbox integration as an alternative.

Finally, just a big thank you to this community for your help and support for this project and to mods for allowing me to post here. Really amazing and I hope lots of you find Nyblit helpful. I’m here to answer any questions. Thanks all :)

Introducing Commander Nyby

I am currently working on Nyby - Nyblit's upcoming AI coach. Due for release along with iOS 27 in September. And just for fun, I decided to make an arsehole mode. "Commander Nyby" is bad tempered, yells at you and takes absolutely no shit. Other options are Companion (soft and friendly) and coach (firm and practical). But, strangely enough, the Commander helps me more than any of them. Sometimes you just need to be jolted into action.

How to Map Task Creation to Your iPhone's Action Button

This is a really nice way to quickly input taks without having to open Nyblit.

Go to Settings then Action Button.

Select Shortcut and tap Choose a Shortcut.

Tap into Search Shortcuts and type Nyblit.

Select 'Quick Add' under Nyblit. (Don't select Add Task).

That's it. Just hold down the action button and a task quick add window will appear. Type in your task and hit enter. Next time you open Nyblit, your task will be waiting in Not Started.

Why I Built Nyblit—and Why Everything in My Life Is Blocked

Hi everyone. I’m David, the creator of Nyblit—and I am absolutely RIDDLED with ADHD.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s, when adults seemed to have three explanations for children like me:

  1. Dyslexia (which I also have).
  2. Sensitivity to food colouring. There was a book called E for Additives that every parent where I lived seemed to own.
  3. Just being a dick.

Generally, I managed to qualify for all three.

TBF I received plenty of support for my dyslexia (go 90s). But I wasn’t allowed sweets, and was frequently told I was a dick or something considerably worse.

As an adult, I’ve found myself highly addicted to sugar and constantly haunted by the feeling that I’m the arsehole in almost everything I do. I struggle with imposter syndrome, depression and low self-esteem. I’m also almost completely unable to focus on anything that doesn’t light up my brain with interest.

Life administration is particularly dangerous. I seem incapable of getting through a day without being fined for forgetting something. Today’s prize was a £150 penalty for a late company filing.

Another day another fine :(

I’m writing this at 1:38 a.m., which is peak operating time for me. My awesome wife is asleep beside me wearing a blindfold—not for anything kinky, but to block the light from whichever devices I’ll keep using until about 3 a.m.

Eventually, I’ll fall asleep listening to a podcast through a single AirPod, probably the left one jammed into my right ear. At around 7:30 a.m., my wife will rescue it from somewhere improbable, put it back in its case, make breakfast for our seven-year-old and bring me a strong coffee.

I’ll start the day tired, feeling guilty because I can’t remember the last time I made breakfast for my child. Then I’ll sip my freezing-cold coffee and reflect on whatever stupid, brilliant or completely pointless thing I stayed awake working on.

Around 20 years ago, I noticed something at work: nearly all my tasks were “blocked.”

Someone else needed to do something before I could do my thing.

Most tasks are a bit like a game of tennis:

  • You want to send an invoice, but someone needs to approve it.
  • You need to fix a software bug, but someone needs to send you the crash log.
  • You need to go to the bathroom, but you’re waiting for the toilet roll to be delivered.

I wonder if that last one is common to any of you too.

To manage all this, I built a FileMaker database. I entered my tasks and sorted them into five simple categories:

  • Not Started
  • Doing
  • Blocked
  • Later
  • Done

I shared it with a few similarly minded friends, and it gradually evolved.

The first problem was that I would mark a task as blocked and then forget why it was blocked. So I added a note explaining what I was waiting for.

Then I realised that the reasons were often predictable. Depending on the type of task, I was usually waiting for one of the same few things. That led to workflows: I could choose what kind of task it was and have its possible stages and blockers already mapped out.

Eventually, each of us had around 15 workflows covering almost every task we regularly needed to manage.

We used that database for years and loved it.

Keeping blocked work out of sight has had a massive psychological benefit for my ADHD brain.

Your day looks achievable when you can see only the actions you can actually take right now.

You don’t need to keep worrying about everything that’s blocked. Those tasks are filed safely, along with the reason they’re blocked and when you might need to chase them.

The blocked list can even be quite fun. It’s essentially a list of things you’re waiting for other people to do. At the end of the day, you can work through it and, for once, be the chaser rather than the chasee.

Eventually, "Update FileMaker license" landed in blocked with the status "awaiting funds". And there it stayed forever.

Someone suggested turning the system into an app around 2015. I made a start, but life intervened when my mum sadly died from lung cancer, and the project disappeared into the enormous cupboard in my brain labelled “Things I Will Definitely Return to One Day.”

Then, about seven months ago, I had another go.

I released an MVP into the world, and, to my astonishment, version 1.0 received 2,500 downloads overnight.

That lit a fuse under my arse.

I’ve been hyperfocused on Nyblit ever since, and this is one of those very rare hyperfocuses that simply refuses to go away. I’m obsessed with experimenting, refining features and trying new ideas.

I use Nyblit to make Nyblit.

Most of what I build never sees the light of day, because something that seems revolutionary at 3 a.m. can look like a pile of dog sick the following morning. But every experiment teaches me something, and Nyblit keeps getting better.

That’s how it all started—and, for better or worse, that’s my creative process.

I hope Nyblit helps make your day feel a little more achievable. I’d genuinely love to hear how you’re using it, whether it helps with your ADHD, what doesn’t work for you and what you think could make it better.

[iOS/Mac] [Nyblit 2.0] [Lifetime Access: $39.99 → $19.99] [A task manager that keeps blocked, delayed and actionable tasks organised with custom workflows]

Hi everyone. My iOS and Mac productivity app 'Nyblit' has today received a major overhaul. I've introduced shared tasks, activity stats, progress rings, in-app tutorials and I've released a new Gmail integration feature so you can keep Gmail threads connected to tasks. I've also made extensive improvements to the user interface for a much smoother experience.

Lifetime access is half price ($39.99 to $19.99) until the end of July.

Nyblit, is a task manager that goes beyond "done" and "not done". Nyblit understands the gray areas in-between.

For example, if your task is a phone call, you can apply a phone call workflow. This would allow you to apply different statuses to the task.

• TODAY: Ready to call.

• BLOCKED: You left a voicemail and are waiting for a callback.

• LATER: The line was busy, so you need to try again in 10 minutes.

• DONE: The call is complete.

By separating tasks this way, you can keep delayed and blocked tasks out of the way but safely tracked with reminders when they're ready. Your Today view contains only tasks you can act on right now. Everything blocked by others or delayed is out of the way but monitored.

I'd love to know what you think of Nyblit and the update. All feedback welcome :)

iOS and Mac Users Wanted to Beta Test Innovative Productivity App

Hi everyone. I am looking for iPhone / iPad and Mac users to beta test the latest version of Nyblit for iOS and Mac.

Nyblit is a to do app launched in January this year. It has had great feedback but is still relatively undiscovered whilst I've been fine-tuning it and developing it further. It is what I call a "state based" todo app. So, for example, if your task is to "Call Bob", then Nyblit knows the task is a phone call. And you can give the task different statuses such as "left voicemail", or "try again later". These statuses can help filter tasks from your active today view to help keep your day clear of clutter. For instance, if you left a voicemail, then the task is blocked (waiting for Bob to call you back). So it gets filed away under blocked. Or if the status is try later, it gets filed in the later tab with a timer to ping you when you with a reminder later.

New in this version is Gmail integration (keep gmail threads attached to tasks) and shared tasks. Plus loads of development on the UI, tutorials and way more. The beta is also working nicely with the iOS 27 Beta.

I will provide all beta testers with free lifetime access on release day by sending a voucher code. Release is likely to be end of July. We have an active discord at https://discord.gg/YMd3BxzbK and would be great to see you there.

If you would like to beta test, please could you DM me? You will need to download Test Flight and be running at least iOS 26.

Thanks for reading.
