I know hedgehogs typically get their food at night when they’re most active, but Fritter gets out for a bit and always eats before going back to sleep in the morning, so I don’t know if swapping to a nighttime feeding schedule would be a good fit

However, this petite hog can really chow down and sometimes he doesn’t have enough food to last the night

Would it make sense to just split the food in half so he doesn’t run out? It seems obvious, but I wanted to make sure lol

I can’t really switch it up right now because someone will be watching him in a few days and I don’t want to stress him more than it already will be for him.

We went up north today to go on a tour for one of the colleges I may go to. It wasn’t too bad, and I think I would prefer this college over the other ones I’ve looked into. I just don’t know what will happen with my pets, so it’s a little nerve wracking 😭

Beau went with me. I wish I could’ve taken a picture of him with the beautiful trees, but we were moving too quickly to do so

It’s a weird feeling to start actually making serious decisions towards college

I was laying on my bed with Fritter sleeping against my thigh, he awoke when I tried to get a picture and was not happy.

He’s not a fan of phones, even if they’re far away, he doesn’t like them. So this is a rare occurrence and I will cherish it because he’s so precious

My pocket puppy got here today. I named him Beau

I was in search for a nice floppy plushie in a transportable size. He checked all of the boxes, now he’s here.

I want to make him a collar, but I keep screwing it up, so we’ll have to see where that goes

These plushies have been kept in a home with cats, dogs, a hedgehog, and at one point a guinea pig. I have never even cuddled with these plushies, so they are practically new

Cleaned Fritter’s cage up today and washed all of his stuff. He sat with me on my bed until everything was put back together.

Mostly slept in his snuggle sack, but I had him out for a bit. He climbed me about 3 times today, and tried to cuddle up under my laptop. I decided that probably wasn’t a good idea and moved him much to his dismay.

Finished this tail about a week ago. The leaf didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to, but it’s whatever. Leaf is removable

I’ve been on and off staying at my grandma’s over the past few weeks. No reason, just wanting to spend time with someone a she is never busy

After making his new snuggle sack, Fritter has been more affectionate and brave

I hope it’s not just having his schedule changed, but that he’s genuinely getting more socialized, incredibly grateful I ended up getting a somewhat affectionate hedgie, I know they aren’t typically cuddly

I got a few good pictures of my silly little guy, but he hates my phone and typically doesn’t give me time to snap a pic before he turns away.

He also got a new snuggle sack that he is adjusting to his liking

Fritter LOVES car rides. I don’t know why, but he is so well behaved and just curls up into my hand/lap and sleeps. It’s the sweetest thing ever

We do grocery pickup, so I always take him for the ride, short trip but he enjoys it. He’s a bit squirmy when I’m carrying him, but relaxes as soon as I step outside and begins to snuggle into my hand.

It’s absolutely brutal to be a human in AZ right now, but I bet it’s the summer heat that makes him feel so good and comfortable.

He really doesn’t like me to take pictures of him, so I don’t have many good ones, but at one point he was curled up with his face sticking out and his little feet were poking out a bit. So cute 😭

He will stop at no lengths to climb me and chew on my hair. Even if that means he must climb up legs, hop over arms, stretch as far as he can to reach up, and avoid gentle hands trying to pry him off

It’s difficult to accurately predict when Fritter will run out of his regular food source, especially with having it shipped to us.

More of his food arrived today, which is great because the spoiled little creature decided to not eat at all with the Mazuri, cat food, treats, and some leftover bugs. Plenty of options in that mix, he was baffled that I dared to present it to him. It was only 1 night, but 😭

He went to town crunching and munching on his regular food after I added it into his bowl. Glad to know he’s just bratty, not anything concerning

Side note, they send a hedgehog sticker with every food package, some of them are so silly 😋 added a picture of them

Just for clarification purposes, he can reach the food perfectly fine, he climbs into the dish to be picky and choose what he’s going to eat first 😭

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Fritter went to the vet and they were a bit concerned about possible parasites. He eats about 3 tablespoons a day and is on the lean side for his age, so we took a sample of his feces back and got the news a few days ago

Yeah, he’s just a hungry guy. No parasites and no other concerns. He’s probably just going to be on the smaller end of the spectrum once he’s done growing

So, a bit ago Fritter was having hides replaced because the little dude kept destroying them. So we switched to a plastic hide, he didn’t like it, so he’d sleep in the corner behind his wheel or underneath a pile of fleece. This lasted for a bit, but he has now started climbing under the bath mats in his cage to hide. I’m going to see if I have enough fleece to make a new snuggle sack, since that seemed to be his favorite.

I got rid of his old one after he got his foot caught on it. I was worried about it happening again, so i postponed making a new one for him, and he clearly did not appreciate that 😭

So yeah, I’m going to buy more fleece soon and hope I have enough to at least make a snuggle sack for him. Hopefully he doesn’t continue this habit 😭

As we all know, Fritter is a special hedgehog and often plays by his own rules, but there’s got to be some explanation.

As per usual, me blocking him from unsafe parts of my bed leads to Fritter climbing up me. I now usually have part of the blanket flipped for him to hide under, which he loves, but as soon as it’s gone, he’s on top of me.

I’ll adjust the blanket slightly and it’ll expose him and instead of hiding again, he climbs as quick as he can all over or on top of me. He immediately switches from calm to chaos.

This is especially apparent when I put him back in his cage. He gets all fidgety and I have to firmly grasp him to prevent him from accidentally harming himself. This continues all the way to his cage 😭

I think it’s likely that he prefers the hidden aspect and tries to wander off when he doesn’t have that, but I don’t get why he’s climbing me 😓 and I especially don’t understand why he acts like a maniac as I take him to go back to him cage. 🫩

If anyone has a logical explanation let me know, otherwise I’m just writing it off as Fritter being Fritter

This is the part of Fritter’s chaos that I love the most. I think it’s so silly that he gets mad when I attempt to assist him (putting my hand under him for a boost, as I do here).

He prefers this over getting covered in the blanket and napping. I cannot multitask with this stinker out. I need to find a hide/snuggle sack he will mostly stay inside of so I can do stuff with him 😭

Comes with character rights, head base, eyes, tail, fur, minky, and I can include fusible fleece to make the minky easier to work with if desired.

This is Fritter after climbing up my legs and arm.

I stopped letting him do this shortly after because he climbed onto my back and wouldn’t let me grab him to carefully take him off of me. He was just chilling and suddenly I can’t grab him and he’s running around dodging my hands. I eventually got him to slide down and let me catch him 😓

Fritter confirms with his nose that I am a safe object to climb up. I’ve never been a playground for a pet before, Fritter has been taking it to the extreme
