You’d thinking he was starving

Just for clarification purposes, he can reach the food perfectly fine, he climbs into the dish to be picky and choose what he’s going to eat first 😭

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Fritter went to the vet and they were a bit concerned about possible parasites. He eats about 3 tablespoons a day and is on the lean side for his age, so we took a sample of his feces back and got the news a few days ago

Yeah, he’s just a hungry guy. No parasites and no other concerns. He’s probably just going to be on the smaller end of the spectrum once he’s done growing

So, a bit ago Fritter was having hides replaced because the little dude kept destroying them. So we switched to a plastic hide, he didn’t like it, so he’d sleep in the corner behind his wheel or underneath a pile of fleece. This lasted for a bit, but he has now started climbing under the bath mats in his cage to hide. I’m going to see if I have enough fleece to make a new snuggle sack, since that seemed to be his favorite.

I got rid of his old one after he got his foot caught on it. I was worried about it happening again, so i postponed making a new one for him, and he clearly did not appreciate that 😭

So yeah, I’m going to buy more fleece soon and hope I have enough to at least make a snuggle sack for him. Hopefully he doesn’t continue this habit 😭

As we all know, Fritter is a special hedgehog and often plays by his own rules, but there’s got to be some explanation.

As per usual, me blocking him from unsafe parts of my bed leads to Fritter climbing up me. I now usually have part of the blanket flipped for him to hide under, which he loves, but as soon as it’s gone, he’s on top of me.

I’ll adjust the blanket slightly and it’ll expose him and instead of hiding again, he climbs as quick as he can all over or on top of me. He immediately switches from calm to chaos.

This is especially apparent when I put him back in his cage. He gets all fidgety and I have to firmly grasp him to prevent him from accidentally harming himself. This continues all the way to his cage 😭

I think it’s likely that he prefers the hidden aspect and tries to wander off when he doesn’t have that, but I don’t get why he’s climbing me 😓 and I especially don’t understand why he acts like a maniac as I take him to go back to him cage. 🫩

If anyone has a logical explanation let me know, otherwise I’m just writing it off as Fritter being Fritter

This is the part of Fritter’s chaos that I love the most. I think it’s so silly that he gets mad when I attempt to assist him (putting my hand under him for a boost, as I do here).

He prefers this over getting covered in the blanket and napping. I cannot multitask with this stinker out. I need to find a hide/snuggle sack he will mostly stay inside of so I can do stuff with him 😭

Hi! Back again to see about possible offers for this suit. It comes with everything needed to finish the head, and is already patterned based off my design. Everything on the face is sewn together, but not glued down, so changes can be made.

Comes with character rights, head base, eyes, tail, fur, minky, and I can include fusible fleece to make the minky easier to work with if desired.

This is Fritter after climbing up my legs and arm.

I stopped letting him do this shortly after because he climbed onto my back and wouldn’t let me grab him to carefully take him off of me. He was just chilling and suddenly I can’t grab him and he’s running around dodging my hands. I eventually got him to slide down and let me catch him 😓

Fritter confirms with his nose that I am a safe object to climb up. I’ve never been a playground for a pet before, Fritter has been taking it to the extreme

Fritter climbed into my hair again and chewed on it before anointing (first time he’s done that) onto himself.

I had him out on my bed and he was very insistent on climbing off my bed. I would block him and he would try to squeeze through my hand, then he would get mad when I picked him up and moved him away from the edge.

He also repeatedly came up to me and attempted to climb onto my legs. He was furious I dared to help him by pushing his bottom up a bit, but continued to do this.

He climbed on my phone, tried to walk onto parts of my bed that weren’t protected, and kept touching my feet.

After he climbed into my hair I decided I had enough bonding time with him for today 😭 I accidentally took a photo while attempting to put him away because he was not cooperating and was trying to get out of my grasp (he’s very talented in this field).

But anyways. When Fritter went to the vet, she said breeder mixes (food) aren’t reliable and we should switch him onto Mazuri.

I know she’s the vet, but I’ve looked at the ingredients in his food, I highly doubt it’s causing him harm, and there’s nothing to prove otherwise. I however do trust her word, especially since we saw her for other animals too, so I’m trying to go 50/50 with the food. He won’t eat the Mazuri food 🫩

I’ve been putting in half of his normal amount of food and the rest is Mazuri, he sits there sifting through the food to find his other food 😭

At the moment I don’t intend to fully switch over, but clearly he isn’t interested in any change to his diet 😓 how else should I go about this?

I need to be more sneaky apparently.

Note - the wheel will be wiped down, he literally did that in one night 😭

I went thrifting with my friends today and found this adorable hedgehog plush in one of the places. I also recently bought a small hedgehog paper weight from a small business, so I may place this alongside it for the little hedgehog corner 🫶

I’m probably about halfway through with this fursuit head, but I don’t love the character as much as I used to. It comes with all the fabric needed to finish it, the tape is already patterned, and nothing is glued down yet.

I also put the picture of the base (+ the artist behind it). I bought the version that did not come with cheek fluff or teeth, so those will not come with the suit

There is a finished nub tail with a hidden belt loop, and character rights are included

Fritter had his cage cleaned today, and was super squirmy while waiting. I haven’t seen him run around in a bit, glad to see this wasn’t a phase 🫶

The exotic vet was so good with Fritter! He was very brave but ended up being put on gas fairly quickly 😭

His ears were a little dirty, and we’re going to do a fecal to make sure he doesn’t have any parasites. That’s about the extent of his issues. They tested the ear gunk and said it was normal, his teeth looked good, heart and lungs were working great, just grumpy.

They also helped us cut his nails since he was already under lmao.

Found an exotic vet for Fritter to have his first check up with, just wondering what level of care I should be expecting?

They were really good with all of our guinea pigs. The other exotic vet that we’ve seen did not treat our guinea pig well and we did not have a good experience, so I’m hopeful this vet works out.

But back to the question lol, are there warning signs I should be looking for? Green flags? The staff are all amazing, but I’m more so concerned about their ability to treat Fritter.

I’m going to talk with them about his eating situation, I’m hoping to get more information on how much he should be eating

Just a random Fritter post because he’s silly and was smelling and chewing on my shirt.

Currently working on a commission for a floor dragging shark tail. It’s not quite finished, I will be adding minky flowers to it, but it’s basically done.

For size reference, I’m 5’5” and I’d estimate the tail being around 4 ft long. Definitely raising my prices after this though, whole lot of work for 80 bucks 😓

Not really sure what to do about Fritter’s hides 😭

He only shows interest in cloth/plush hides, but shreds them rather quickly. I tried an igloo hide, he’s not a fan, even after I added fleece inside. I bought a ferret hide that looked a bit sturdier last night, he’s doesn’t like it because it’s too open 😓

My main issue is safety. He didn’t just rip the old hides, he absolutely destroyed them. The beehive hide had a water resistant layer on the bottom and Fritter ripped through it and got stuck between the layers of fabric, so I had to pull him out. Then his snail hide was broken in less time, he ripped into the foam/stuffing and I had to take it away in fear of consumption and/or getting his feet caught.

I’m looking into different hides that don’t have bottoms built in (that seems to be the main issue) but idk if I should just keep buying replacements to keep him happy or what. I don’t want to buy new hides every month, but I feel awful seeing him sleep in the corner and drag blankets to keep warm and stay covered, or even worse when he hides underneath/behind stuff in his cage ☹️

I bought him a snuffle mat, I’m waiting for a tunnel to arrive, I have a dig bin for him, he’s got his wheel, he likes to run around the cage sometimes, he has stuffed toys that he carries around, he has some piled up blankets, idk why he’s so insistent on destroying his hides.

Any suggestions would be great 😓
