Something New?

Of course cooking recipes have been around since humans. It’s all been done. Ok, but this idea only seems to be popular in Argentina. I need to do something with garden orange and red habs. Not crazy about using my new dehydrator. To make my own sauce, would have to age (ferment) peppers. I’m going to sauté onions, garlic and habs. Then add the batch to chimichurri. See what happens.

Share a Bit of Advice?

My orange and red habs are about ready to be used. I have an unopened dehydrator and lots of excellent sauce making advice. Some of which I don’t get bc it involves mixing raw habs as if they were fermented. Leading conveniently to my question - I want to cook w/ sautéed habs. One diced ripe orange hab per number of person servings??

Go Green!

It’s my first year growing. I’ve got a wabbit problem. Watered today. A grow bag with bushy healthy plants turned into three naked stalks. Rather than showing it my stock pot from the inside, I got Uncle Dunkel hot pepper spray for plants. I tried bird seed in the grass, and saw the wabbit eating from the ground. Tender leaves were too tempting. Eat my capsicum wabbit.

Happy Habs

At least no complaints filed. Dehydrator arrives mid week. I see mature ones at the grocery, so these are not ready yet.

You’re probably thinking I went in for a trim, got distracted with the stylist and got chopped. No, the local rabbit is a smooth criminal. Rather than show it my stock pot from the inside, I got Uncle Dunkel’s hot pepper spray to make the leaves less appealing.

So, after picking the peppers, I put them in a dehydrator, grind them and apply to food. I find it highly ironic that I provided continuous moisture only to have it all voluntarily taken away.

Heh heh.

Got a few seedlings from a local nursery and they seem happy. According to Ai, squirrels, like all mammals, have hot taste receptors. Which would maybe explain the extreme backflip one did after taking a bite.

Getting a Home Depot delivery tomorrow of 12 red ghost plants (my order was for 6 ghost and 6 reaper. Fine). Have some orange and red habs going.

Hi, I’m a first year grower. The red reaper and red ghost seedlings will arrive soon. Got red and orange seedlings a couple of months ago and I have quite a few small habs. Picked one, washed it off, took a small bite and wow was that hot. Did not finish the pepper. What do you do with them when they’ve ripened?
