Window catio on clapboard siding

We would like to build a window catio for our cats. The trick is that we have classic wood clapboard siding. The house is over 180 years old and the siding is a pain to source with a large enough reveal to match (6" reveal).

Any thoughts on how to attach the catio box to the house without having to cut slots in the siding? We have 2" wood sheathing underneath, so it will have a solid connection at any point we screw through. The window is too far about ground level for a base. We've come up with notching the brackets to fit the clapboards, which can be tricky.

We'll build the catio box to fit outside the window frame to avoid having to drill holes in the original wood trim. We live in a climate that sees snow, ice and heat.

Knitting needle organizer

I've been working on holiday gifts and just finished this needle organizer!

It's inspired by the Atlas Zipper Case and the Sew Sweetness Creative Maker Supply Case patterns, but I wanted to include an additional set of pages in the middle. To accommodate the extra thickness, I added a 1½" flange to one side of the zipper tape. To allow the zipper to close completely, I tapered the zipper tape at the open (top) end to reduce the binding width - see pictures.

I used SF101 as the stabilizer on all fabrics except the binding. For the middle organizer pages, I also added a piece of Decovil Heavy cut 1" smaller than the page dimensions on all sides to provide structure. The goal was to stiff the pages but not to have to sew through the Decovil Heavy. The outer layer is foam batting.

The two cat fabrics are Curious Cats by Elizabeth's Studio (outer) and Garden Party in Mint from Cats in the Garden by Windham Fabrics. Both quilt cottons. The rest are quilting batiks.

If you're new to bag sewing, I'd recommend starting with Sew Sweetness patterns. Sara has tutorial videos for many of her patterns, which make them especially beginner-friendly.

Equipment for dyeming

I have started dying for personal use....no commercial goals. I have a small amount of storage in my kitchen workspace. Can I share plastic equipment between acid dye and fiber reactive and Rit Dyemore? I assume I can clean the stainless and glass.
