I did it! 🥬🔵🥬

I was introduced to the Animal Crossing world just a few months ago, and when I discovered blue roses, I reaaaaally wanted one! Unfortunately, I don't have access to seeds (I haven't seen them in the shop or at Leif's yet), so 100% of my seed flowers came from Kapp'n boat tours.

I don't have the brain capacity to follow the more complicated but more efficient methods, so I just did the 4-step method. I don't remember exactly when I started, but it took 6-8 weeks or so. I also don't have any visitors who can water them.

If you want to try it yourself, here is how I did it:

You need three seed rose colors: white, red, and yellow. Roses from Kapp'n boat tours count as seed roses.

1. Pair seed whites to breed purple hybrids.

2. Pair purple hybrids with seed reds to breed pink hybrids.

3. Pair pink hybrids with seed yellows to breed red hybrids.

4. Pair red hybrids to breed orange, black, and blue hybrids.

4a. Pair red hybrids with orange and black hybrids to breed blue hybrids. Ensure the orange and black hybrids are only paired with a red so that the orange and black flowers are not touching each other.

Notes

- With one exception, always discard newly bred roses that aren't included in the steps. For example, step one produces a lot of white, but you can't use those, so you have to clean them out daily. The only daughter roses you can use are purple from step 1, pink from step 2, red from step 3, and red, orange, and black from step 4. Exception - Red hybrids in step 4 can produce more reds, and you can use those.

- If you're stuck using only boat tours to get roses, you'll probably get bottlenecked on steps two and three by having too many reds in two and too many pinks in three.

- It takes a pretty big farm - I currently have almost 300 roses with 90 white, 65 red/purple, 91 pink/yellow, and 45 red/orange/black.

Got some cool stuff from the mystery box promotion

I came out ahead on the price of everything, especially the outdoor light, but I like these mystery boxes because of the opportunity to get something I'd never choose to buy.

I got the 20-pack of mini-panel lights in the mystery box promotion a few months ago. I never would have bought them, but I actually really love them, so I bought four more during the BOGO event around the same time. The one I got this time makes my sixth, and I'm super happy about that.

I already have a torchiere and had plans to make it a pair for a specific room, so that was perfect.

The gaming panel is something I'd never buy, but again, I like it. I haven't experimented too much with it yet, though; I just have it set to show a clock, the weather, and outside temp.

The flying saucer on a stick is great, and it's a winner in my book because you can set it to three different heights. I plan to use it at a lower height on a second-floor outdoor deck so that it washes the deck but doesn't blind anyone sitting there or create obnoxious light pollution if it's above the deck railing height. I'll snap some pics once it's set up.

Did any of you get mystery boxes this time?

It finally happened...

I've been doing REP as a side hustle for about two years now, and I finally botched a shoot so bad that I had to come back and do it again.

I have dual memory cards in my camera, and I noticed that the setting for recording independently to both cards had reset, so it was only saving to one. I changed the setting back to independent, but didn't notice that it also reset the file type from RAW to the lowest quality JPG; the worst possible option. The photos weren't even remotely salvageable.

The kicker is that the shoot was 60 miles away, and it was for a first-time client. The agent and homeowner were very understanding and accommodating, but man, it sucks not delivering my standard of service, especially with someone new who doesn't know what I usually deliver.

That said, the silver lining is that the agent knows that I'll always make it right, no questions asked. The re-shoot was under an overcast sky, so the exterior photos were so much better.

What was your first disaster?

Can someone please tell me why this homeowner likes their photo better? My Example is on the left, and the Home Owner Example is on the right.

This actually happened, but it's just a joke, as the agent told her to piss in the wind. He is my only photos-only agent because he deals with homes in bankruptcy, so he doesn't want more than photos because it doesn't really matter on his end. I always come through for him because he's tossed me thousands in referrals, including one that is my highest margin (custom home builder).

I've been messing around with different layouts, mostly centered around taking advantage of the modular nature. I'm a sucker for symmetry though, so I tend to prefer those kinds of designs. I'd love to see what you all have come up with in your setups, or how you might arrange these if you were putting them in your space!
