Internal door minimum width

I've just bought a 1930 semi-detached and I need to fully renovate it. I'm considering the option of adding a door below the stairs but there are around 70cm of available space.

I've read that there are regulations about accessibility and minimum width for doors, however this is an old house so I'm not sure if they apply here.

I've asked a structural engineer as we need to open some other walls but anyway he wasn't sure about regulation.

I understand the intent for new houses but it's quite ridiculous to make it apply to old houses.

Any suggestions would help and if you need more info, let me know.

Thank you

Full rewiring for a 3 bedroom house

Hi,

I've just bought a property in Cambridge and I'm asked a quote to an electrician for a full rewire of the property (3 bedroom semi from 1930).

He quoted a bit more than £10,340 + VAT and it doesn't include lighting fixtures.

I had another informal quote of around 5k but I'll ask for a formal one with the same specs. I was expecting something more than 5k but definitely not 12k.

What do you think about it? Too expensive? In line with the market? On the quote he said he would do a price match for a like for like quote so at least I think it's worth having a second official quote.

Thank you
