First time trying cyanotype--what a fun art form!

I've been thinking about doing this since my sister got married a few months ago--I pressed some of the flowers from their bouquet and arrangements and was planning to make a cyanotype for them as a Christmas present, but hadn't gotten around to it until I realized we're in October and the sunlight is waning!

Had to guess at exposure times particularly since the plants were all different opacities--I think the translucent flowers are my favorite to expose at this point given how "X-ray like" they look.

What botanicals do you like to capture?

Planning Tip: Utilize the Google Maps "Save to List" Feature

As you're doing research into identifying sites in London that appeal to you, save those sites to specific "Lists" within Google Maps, and include a brief note about what it is and why you've saved it, as well as any other "Need to know" tips like "Free" or "Reservation required" or "Pub Quiz on Thursdays" or "Try the Y--it's highly rated".

I created separate lists like "London - Museums", "London - Food", "London - Shopping", "Greenspace", "Attractions", etc., so that whenever we were in a specific area of London I could open up the app and easily see what's around me that I've already looked into and vetted. By dividing the attractions into specific groups, I could essentially "filter" to the type of attraction I was interested in, whether it's a park or a cafe or historical site.

The other nice thing about the list feature is that you can save a location to multiple lists, so for example you could save the V&A to both "Museum" and "Food" if the prospect of eating in the world's oldest museum cafe is appealing to you.

Doing this takes the pressure away from adhering to a strict itinerary and adds some flexibility to your schedule, especially if you get done with an attraction in less time than you anticipated. It also cuts down on the "Where should we go to eat? I dunno, what's around here?" conversations that can waste time and cause squabbles, lol

It also allows you to help keep your daily sightseeing concentrated within one geographic area rather than in multiple areas across different sides of the city. By seeing all of your places of interest laid out on a map in clusters, it's easier to narrow down on what you'd like to do for each day of your trip, and reduce the chance that you end up having to schlep from one end of the city to the other to try and fit everything in.

Overall this approach really helped me cut down on decision fatigue during my trip, because the only places I had saved were places that I'd be pleased to visit.

Example map of mine is attached.

Alternate Take on THAT Rhaenyra and Corlys scene

People only believe denying the elevation of his bastards is a mistake because the the show is actively telegraphing that this is a mistake through the editing.

I've (regrettably, probably) watched enough competition reality television to understand that certain risky game moves are often portrayed by editors as strategically ingenious if they serve to move the eventual winner ahead in the game, and other equally risky game moves as strategically idiotic if they lead to a rival contestant's own elimination. It's results-oriented thinking, and this is no different.

Because let's zoom out here.

Otto's blood is still wet. They haven't even moved out the Hightower merch. Rhaenyra doesn't even have a small council yet, who in normal circumstances would be a group of people off of whom this request could be bounced and the pros and cons carefully considered.

The transition of power is *always* the most fragile phase of any reign. Rhaenyra is already facing a stacked deck in countering claims that she's an unstable radical who's trying to change too many things too quickly because 1.) She's a woman now occupying a role that has ONLY been occupied by men, and we all know women as the fairer sex are handicapped by their frailty and tendency towards mercy as rulers (/s, in case it wasn't obvious enough) and 2.) She's acquired this power through conquest, meaning that there are a lot of people out there who still have a vested interest in seeing her fail

A queen that forces her way onto the throne (the first woman to ever do so) and who immediately starts upending the proper order of things like elevating bastards beyond their proper station *does* come across as radical and makes the people under her fear that they might lose their own station as a result of whims and caprice. When people fear that they'll lose their own, they'll seek more stable alternatives. It doesn't help that she's already disrespected the city's nobles by feigning to feed them rats, i.e. treating them as if they are commoners.

If anything, Corlys is making this request *now,* while Rhaenerya's operating solo and unsupported by an established small council, because he recognizes that she's more likely to grant his request simply to get this issue off her plate so she can focus on other problems.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he made this request during a dinner between just the two of them and the two people who have most to gain from such an elevation in status. He's playing the Game of Thrones as well, and in a story with a different long-term outcome, there's an alternate framing of this storyline wherein the writers make him appear to be sympathetic but manipulative in making these requests in the time and manner that he does. But we already know how this story is going to end, which is why the writers framed this the way that they did.

WIP: Wild West Town

I've a general store and a saloon for now--maybe I'll make some other buildings for my more desert-y Pokemon!

Rustic Spa and Sauna

There's an area below the gate at Withered Wastelands that was just ASKING for a hot spring, and while I was at it I decided to build a sauna!

Spoilers ahead:

After Team Rocket's Rocket went to space, I figured the best use of the platform would be to give Ditto and the gang an observatory to keep a lookout for the returning humans!

I think I might add a planetarium-type room to the middle of the building (and build some stairs into the lower chamber--Magnemite and Persian are currently trapped) but that's a project for another day
