My first snake gun.

1969 Colt Cobra in shooter condition. It was hella crusty, rusty and gummy when I bought it. I cleaned and polished it up and now its great again. No I dont care that I cleaned it, yes I know you arent supposed to do that. Its as good looking as I can get it without removing the bluing.

Update on the pink Katydids

They are still here safe and sound and I haven't seen any more like them. I've seen a few green ones but not a fifth pink one. The area they are in is dominated by Virginia Creeper and other plants that I have just let run wild for the bugs and spiders to enjoy. Creeper has pinkish stems so they arent easy to spot in spite of what you'd imagine. No pesticides are used on my gardens or property. I appreciate all the interest, love and positivity towards these beautiful and strange insects. I did not expect such a large response.

Pink katydids in my yard.

South central NC. I had one last year and now there are at least four. Most excellent having these jewels around again. Katydids with this pink erythrism are rarish I think.

Chaotic dream a few days ago.

It was dark and very windy. The kind of dark where the sky isnt black but rather purple. I was beside an abandoned wooden building pressed against a tree with a treeline several yards away to my right. Just beyond this treeline was a railway with a moving train blowing its horn. Loud, very windy but not tornadic. In the distance maybe a kilometer away across a plain was a ferriswheel that was being tormented by the winds to the point of breaking its mooring columns and rolling free towards me. It came at me swerving in a sideways path and passed just to the left missing me by perhaps 3 or 4 yards. It was memorable enough to stay after I awoke which in itself is odd.

Dekay

I was called to come kill a snake at a pool at work. Instead I picked it up and released it away from the humans who sought to kill it.

The smallness of minds, the repulsive instinct of humans to kill such a small creature for no reason at all. Imagine how tiny your soul has to be to end the life of something so harmless as a 12 inch long snake that was merely existing in the grass beside a public space. The ignorance and audacity is breathtaking. Snakes are magical. Always have been. It saddens me to think about the rare coincidence that I would get this call rather than someone with less compassion for such a thing. The careless stomping of something less than a half inch tall is sad. Its just sad. This little one lives on. I hope if I am ever faced with death for no reason other than my existence, that I am afforded the same grace.

Boxweiler trying to chill.

She isn't a fan of this cat always being friendly with her.
