Lamotrigine alone or always an antipsychotic?

Hi everyone,

Do people with bipolar II generally need to stay on an antipsychotic long-term, or can some eventually do well on lamotrigine alone once it's at a therapeutic dose?

If you've been on lamotrigine:

Were you able to stop your antipsychotic eventually?

Right now I'm taking:

Escitalopram 10 mg

Lamotrigine 25 mg (currently titrating to 200 mg)

Concerta 36 mg

My psychiatrist is considering brexpiprazole (Rexulti) 0.5 mg.

On 2 mg abilify helps in Irritability but activating.

I'm just hoping to hear some real-world experiences from people who have been through this.

Thanks!

Taurine is amazing

Taurine surprised me more than any supplement I’ve tried so far

I know it’s only been around 3 days, so I’m not claiming some miracle transformation, but taurine has genuinely surprised me.

I’ve tried quite a few common supplements before — magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, NAC, tyrosine, omega-3, etc. Most of them were either subtle or took time to notice.

Taurine is the first one where I actually felt a noticeable change quickly.

Currently taking around 4–6 grams per day split into multiple doses.

Things I’ve noticed:

- Sleep feels noticeably deeper

- Palpitations/that “wired” feeling are way down

- I feel calmer overall

- Less bloating (this one is honestly a huge win for me)

- Workouts feel a bit better, muscles feel stronger/more stable

Obviously could be individual response/placebo and it’s early, but the difference has been surprisingly noticeable compared with other supplements I’ve experimented with.

Funny how taurine isn’t talked about as much as some other supplements when it seems to have effects on so many systems.

Anyone else respond strongly to taurine?

Please share your experience on levofloxacin.

I got prescribed

vonoprazan 20 mg x2

Amoxicillin 1000mg x2

Levofloxacin 500 x1

Bismuth 240 mg x 2

After failing triple therapy.

And just read about Levofloxacin side effects.

I am worried of side effects ( black box warning).

I do have gastritis (h pylori).

How was your experience on it?
