Just Purchased this Log Home

Previous owner has been amazing and is leaving behind all tools and stain, caulk, etc. he really did a great job maintaining the home and our inspector said the house is in amazing shape.

I want to keep that process going. Previous owner is going to walk the log home with me and explain everything he has done and timelines. I have a few questions though:

- He stained it 2 years ago and it looks great (I think). How many years do I have before having to do that again?

- should I caulk checks that are bigger or let them be?

- This cabin in in the woods but all the trees are pushed fairly far back from the house. No trees overhang. Current owner said the guy who built the log home in 2005 let some trees over grow and they had a bee problem, and some other things but he fixed all that and cut the woods back. Said he hasn't had more than a few bees the last couple years. Are carpenter bees a massive issue? What preventative maintenance can I do for them?

- what would your top 5 tips for a new log home owner be?

Thanks in advance for any advice, excited (and a bit nervous) to steward this home and preserve it the way it has been for years. I already had a starter home, the plan is for this to be my families forever home now so I am fine with putting the work in to keep it in the great condition it currently is in.

First trip to Walt Disney, any/all advice is welcome.

Here is what we have booked and what we are thinking:

7 Nights

Beach Club Resort

Kids are 7 & 9

Arrive Thursday Afternoon: check out the resort, get settled in.

Friday: Magic Kingdom

Saturday: Hollywood Studios

Sunday: Resort Day

Monday: Epcot

Tuesday: Magic Kingdom (2nd time)

Wednesday: Animal Kingdom

Thursday: Fly home

We booked 7 nights so we can have a full day at each park (2 at magic Kingdom) as well as a relaxing resort day (kids LOVE the water). We like to have some general ideas on what we want to do and where we want to go but we by no means plan to cover every square inch and ride every ride.

Along with riding roller coasters and hitting the big main ones, here are some Ideas we are thinking about:

Memory Maker, Topolinos Character Breakfast, Kilimanjaro Safari. Maybe lightning passes, not sure how many coasters we are going to go on.

We also plan on ordering groceries when we arrive so we will have food, snacks, drinks, etc. for the week. Probably not doing a dining plan since none of us eat that much. Pack some snacks and PB&Js and the kids will love it. That being said, you know I am going to get some hotdogs and popcorn but I want the flexibility to get what we want, when and not feel obligated to "make it worth it" with a dining plan.

I am noob to all of this but this is our idea/plan so far; let me know what you think or what we should add/remove.

Many thanks in advance!
