Team Corally or Arrma? Or something else?
I had my mind set on a Typhon TLR for my next purchase. All seemed it was the right decision on paper.
However, my latest -bad- experience with Arrma reliability and parts availability in Europe has steered me to think again. 6 months for an ESC under warranty, warranty is not as strong as in US (only six months) and lead time beyond a month for simple parts like steering blocks.
I am now tempted to look at Team Corally. As far as my research goes, they have top class support in Europe (they don’t rely on third parties like HH as they own a distribution center in a Belgium) and Rek RC speak wonders of the Asuga. Concern is that both Asuga and Spark have way less adjustment than even a 223S Arrma. I was surprised their shock towers have minimum positions and the rear suspension links are not adjustable.
Anyone here that has both or has had them and can give any insights? And if there are any recommendations to look after something else?
I do think the TLR is the best buy when it comes to out of the box performance. But in the long term I’m worried it will let me down.
Usage is bashing around in mixed terrain with some jumps. No skate parks nor big sends for now.
TLDR: wanted a Typhon TLR, had bad experience with Arrma in Europe, now looking at alternatives.
Edit: Hobao is also on the table. I love the looks of the truggy, especially the cage truggy.
Edit 2: already have 9 cars and want to stick with the 1/8-ish buggy as will be the replacement for the Vorteks 223S that will go.
Ready for the maiden trip!
Today was an exciting day!
Finally the GPM pars arrived! Miki Kraton ready to rock!
4.3A battery fits no issue. The bumper was a bit of a disappointment because it comes with 1.5mm hexes whilst the whole rig is 2mm. Even the battery strap mounts is correct at 2mm. No idea why they would do that. Also, the part itself is so sharp I am worried. But hey, let’s just send it!
On a side note, the “new to me” SBR2.0 finally arrived and I love it!!! I underestimated sooooo much the size of this monster…but at least the space I have for it still works, ha!
The Microbe is barely the size of the tire on this thing! Can’t believe I grabbed it at 450€!
Overheating still
I have a Vorteks 223S. Stock ESC was fried due to overheating.
I swapped for a 10bl120 and run it exclusively on 3S to avoid additional stress, but the esc still overheats after 10 min and not even speed runs or full throttle. The runtime before temp cutoff kicks in now seems to be actually less than with the stock ESC.
Is there an issue I’m missing? I am just doomed and need to change the pinion? I’m getting tired of not enjoying this rig.
Used TLR price
I’m looking around for a TLR since some time now. For context, I’m in Europe.
Very difficult to find a used one, but I found a shop that sells used cars and takes trade-ins. They have a TLR for 500€ with one year warranty (which I’m unsure how useful it is as I’m in another country than the shop). They claim “as good as new” but it definitely has scars on the body, so wouldn’t say new but very good condition.
I also can get it new for around 600€ shipped to my home.
I’ve seen in Europe RC cars are more expensive used by comparison to the US, but I come from grabbing a SBR2 in good condition for less than half price new.
Is the used TLR a good deal at 500 considering the warranty the shop gives might be limited due to location?
Also, very rare to see sale deals around Europe on these models. 600 is best deal I can get new.
Getting the fleet in order
Maybe they are too big or too small for the display stands, but managed to make it work.
Missing from the pic are the Mini Kraton (on the bench for shock oil), the Venture18, the Microbe (in my backpack) and the SBR2.0.
The SBR is still looking for space…damn thing is huge haha.

1/10 body recommendations?
Current status of my XTS S10.
Body finally died and looking for something I can just pop on as I’m not confident enough for painting (never done it). I know I need to get the posts, they are on the way.
Saw killerbodies and they look amazing, but not sure if they are a good value for the price.
Also, worth to note the stock body had a lot of issues with the common 1/10 tires. Probably the stock ones were on the smaller side and anything else I got was rubbing. Hopefully this won’t be the case for the aftermarket bodies. If anyone needs had experience, welcome to comment.
Thoughts and recommendations on what to get? Open to anything really.
FrankenSCTein
The GTFans came to a point where upgrades were needed: servo and tires died.
At the same time, Mini Kraton got a set of Trenchers, so…GTFans got the copperheads!
At this rate, rigs will start to look like some Mad Max stuff 🤭
Probably it will soon need a new body, which will be a headache considering it’s a 1/12.
Fun days!!!
Ready for the Mini Fun!
So, I fell into it.
It’s smaller than I thought. Let’s see how the aftermarket wheels and tires I got look on this thing!
Sending it soon!!!
I did it!
I think it was too good of a deal to not grab it.
Body has some cracks and foam on tx wheel is worn, but for 450€, I think I’ve got a bargain.
Apart from the rear braces, what else I need to think on add to it? I’ll check shocks and diffs of course.
Can’t wait to run this!!!
Micro B / Microbe / Speck B batteries
Seems like a pain to find batteries for these.
I was surprised I didn’t even get 25 min from the Microbe today. So I need more batteries.
Any recommendations? I’m based in Europe and seems there is basically no options to get any PH2 discharge batteries, not even the stock ones as they are out of stock.
Help please! The little thing is a blast but need more run time haha,
Is SBR 2.0 a good or bad idea?u
Found a sweet deal for the SBR. But now I’m wondering if given Losi’s reputation of discontinuing stuff might make this a risk.
I was actually looking to get a FMS Bronco, but this deal seems too good to just let pass. And also, the FMS support in Europe is questionable considering their import situation.
Additional concern is this doesn’t have 2x dampers per corner as the FMS and UDR. Does the double damper make a difference? I know there are aftermarket options for solving that, but plan to run stock until something breaks.
Highly considering taking this and selling 2 rigs to make up for the space (Vorteks and possibly a Granite).
My first 2WD
It’s so cute!
And as my first 2WD, it has been a challenge to get a grasp of good driving. In fairness, I’ve just drove on slippery laminate indoors.
It’s so cute and looks soooo fragile that I don’t want to use it. Despite reviews showing these things take a beating.
Btw, never actually dimensioned the actual size of it (thing stands on an iPad 10” for this picture).
Is it worth to upgrade shocks? Seems front can use a bit more travel and droop.
I wonder what else can be worthy upgrades on this little thing. Looks awesome quality out of the box.
Who else here loving the minis?
First Boat
New here and looking to get into this. Already a big fan of RC cars (around 10 rigs, different scales and purposes).
I was considering the Jetstream from ProBoat but it feels overkill and a bit to expensive for a first boat.
I’m looking more for a scale look rather than speed. And also something that is manageable enough for the kids to take around from time to time (they are experienced with RC cars too).
Specifically into jet stream boats as we have ponds and artificial lakes around but they are full of algae and I don’t want to deal with the propeller issues that means. Also, quite and shallow beaches around.
Important thing: needs to have reverse! I know it’s a long shot with jet boats.
If the Jetstream is the good choice, I don’t mind spending on it.
Thoughts and recos are very welcome.
Venture18 Bronco U4 layout
Some time ago someone asked me about the layout to improve the Venture18 Bronco crawling performance. Couldn’t find the original post, but here it is.
- Brass rings and hexes
- Original Venture18 sliders cut to fit the width of the Bronco body
- ESC and light control moved to the sliders
- Receiver stays on top as it’s to big to fit under the body anywhere else.
- Battery moved from the back to the sliders (currently fixed with rubber bands, but will look after Velcro or else
Hope this is helpful!
Worthy opponent
I have a blue Typhon Grom BLX in my basket and suddenly this thing gets into the game: UDIRC Gleam Pro.
Slightly longer than the Arrma and with center diff. Given the praise that people have given to the brand, I’m tempted to change my mind.
Also, towers are separate here, so maybe an advantage? Also separate Rx. But parts availability might be a hit or miss? I do love the blue Typhon looks more. But this thing will also come in pink!
What would you do? Price is same, but Udirc has no battery.
1/12 SCT bodies
Im struggling to find a SCT body for my GTFans.
The dimensions seem standard…for a road or rally car at 255mm wheel base x 200mm width.
Only option I’ve found is the body for the LC Racing SCT which I’m not a fan of.
Anyone here has any recommendations to where to look?
Crawler Basher (crawlsher or bashler?)
Looking for a new rig that does it all. Can trail/slightly crawl but also decent speed for jumps and off-road bash (grass, dirt, no big jumps, just fooling around the woods).
Ideally a 2 speed for decent speed. For reference: I love the Venture18 Bronco flux. It has very decent speed for its size and despite being rear heavy it can handle some obstacles OK.
I don’t like the MJX’s. Thinking of getting a TRX4 or SCX10 SR5 and convert to brushless. Would this make sense? Is there a better option out there to go this route?
Rally tires
Looking for off road tire recommendations for the XTS S10.
I got the ones up the pic, good ones from Ali. Loved the traction I get, but the durability was low as they are too soft (4 off road runs and thread is nearly gone).
Looking to stay 72x28 ish. 75x30 was too big for the stock body and guards.
Please don’t mention the Rlaarlo stock ones, they suck on short grass and loose terrain.
Any recos welcome. I normally do a mix of gravel, compact dirt, and some tarmac (I do have an on-road set for when I only run tarmac)
Loving it!
First attempt on filming and 1 hand driving.
This tuned XTS has stopped annoying me and now enjoying it.
Suspension is amazing. Managed to get the realism I wanted finally!
Disregard the noises, a lot of sticks and debris going around the wheels.
