secular books on orthodox christianity?

i love reading about christianity, but i would like a book that is about or includes inform about orthodox history, belief and culture from a secular or academic perspective. or perhaps at least acceptable in your opinion for someone who doesnt want to hear anymore bullshit while being gladly in her post-orthodox state of being. just trying to learn deeper without having much discomfort with rhetoric being blasted in my face. any recommendations are welcome, thank you!

Places around lincoln for swimming and rock/cliff jumping?

My brother and I are heading up to New Hampshire for the week and want to know if there any places around Lincoln (could be a while away, doesnt matter) that have natural rocks where you can jump off and swim. We love diving and jumping and swimming, and would love to hear about places we could go!!! Thank you :)

she hasn't posted anything on her story in 24 hours..

very strange for her. i wonder (well, I use this very loosely) if this has anything to do with the 'public scrutiny,' or, literal concern, she has been facing.

I am genuinely SO curious because she never is silent on social media, ESPECIALLY after a release. She posts every fucking hour on insta, I swear, and suddenly she's gone? I want to know y'all's thoughts.

i feel like i can't put my finger on exactly why i don't like her

something about taylor just gives me horrible vibes. and i can't like her. I dont. i have friends who love her and insist she's amazing but I just don't buy it. I feel like the kindness she displays is fake but tbh if someone asked me why id say "I just have a feeling."

I wanted to ask: Have any of you guys felt the same way? and if yes, what lead to your breaking point?

I think my biggest concern is proof and evidence whenever I try and approach a conclusion in my head, so examples would be great.

I think one of my big dislikes right now is travis and the kelce family.

Orthodoxy and OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)

Years ago I was an Orthodox convert. Last week, I found out I have OCD—and now everything makes sense.

I have been agnostic for almost two years now, but I am examining my old beliefs deeply because of my diagnosis.

I was never, ever a very religious person but I latched onto my faith severely. I prayed every night, pretty compulsively—I had to say a certain prayer exactly three times and if I felt I was not appreciating God enough I would say it another three times. I searched for reassurance that I was a good person through being Orthodox. And because Orthodoxy was the only true church, the only way, I must have been good, which was excellent for my Moral OCD. I even quite oddly pretended to be straight though I disagreed with the Church's views on same sex marriage (I eventually gave up though).

In my opinion, the strictness of the Orthodox church, any Orthodox church, is perfect for people with OCD or any mental illness. I mean, I'm pretty sure many saints and religious figures probably had OCD.

This was quick, so I'm sorry if the post is choppy but I'd love to hear all of your opinions on the sentiments I expressed, whether you can personally relate or not, or know people who relate. (also apologies I'm not sure how to flair this)

always feeling like you're "in submission" to people

hi!! I've never posted on here but I've had misophonia since I was ten years old. im a female who lives with my family still. Anyway, I wanted to know if you guys ever felt this too—the feeling that you are always in submission to people around you because misophonia is just so debilitating that you will do anything to get away from it.

Its genuinely so annoying when I have my family members literally take over my personal space by eating food because they know I will go away. Even with silly things like the TV. I will ALWAYS leave any room where anyone is eating because it makes me feel horrible and disgusting. But I can't even fight them or say no because I know it's not worth it to argue and I'm generally a "keep the peace" type of person. It seems like they're doing it on purpose at this point and just don't understand how absolutely severe my struggle is.

does anyone have advice on how to communicate this? or just some "I feel this too"? idk, but thank you :)
