Is Based Bodywoks Legit? (Especially for wavy to curly hair) (low porosity)

I have been seeing these guys all over my fyp. Is it legit for a boy who wants to get some curls from wavy hair? It looks awfully appealing. I have low porosity hair btw.

Products help.

Hi everyone, I’m a boy and I’m new to styling my natural texture and tried curl cream for the first time today.
Routine I used:
Shampoo: Native shampoo
Styling product: Pete and Pedro curl cream
Method: applied curl cream, scrunched, and air dried
Results:
I got loose, fluffy waves/curls with more texture and volume than usual. It looked promising, but I also noticed some uneven definition and I’m not sure how to improve it.
Questions:
Please keep in mind that have thick low porosity hair. I am thinking of changing to a curly/textured low taper fade later if I like the results.
What products should I use. (I mean what brand?) (I have no budget really as long as its not absurdly expensive) (USA)
Should I be using gel or mousse with curl cream?
Is there a simple beginner routine you’d recommend for wavy/curly hair?
I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the product options and would appreciate a simple starting point.

Thinking of Trying Curly Hair

I’m new to curly/wavy hair care and wanted advice before changing my routine or haircut.

I’m a boy, and I was thinking about getting a curly/textured low taper fade. My face shape is oval, leaning slightly oblong, and my hair is naturally wavy in the morning before I shower. Sometimes parts curl up a bit when it’s messy or after sleeping.

Right now I’m considering this routine:

  • Shampoo every 2–3 days (native)
  • Damp hair after showering
  • Small amount of curl cream (pete and pedro)
  • Scrunch upward
  • Optional sea salt spray for texture/volume (bumble and bumble)
  • Small amount of mousse if needed (Garnier Fructis)
  • Air dry

A few questions:

Should I not switch to curly? (I really want to switch)

Is there anything I should change?

What shampoo + conditioner should I use?

I’m completely new to this, so detailed advice would really help. Thanks!
