Skin issue

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding skin management and hyperhidrosis on my hands.

Quick context: I’m 195 cm / 93 kg / 205 lbs / 11% bodyfat i don't have the girth nor the length though. I do mostly bouldering. Because of my weight and power, I put a ton of tension on hold edges, but my skin is ridiculously soft and sweaty. I literally have to re-chalk before every single attempt, and no matter what I do, I constantly tear flappers ("steaks") because my skin gets pinch-rolled on plastic holds. No matter how much i climb, i still have that baby ass skin

I’ve been reading up on antihydral creams to build up a tougher, dryer callus layer, and I'm torn between

  1. Antihydral
  2. Rhino Skin Perfomance

For those who have used both:

  • Which one would you recommend for someone with naturally very soft skin who sweats easily (but strangely only hands)?
  • Does stopping these creams after a few months reset your skin back to normal without any long-term issues?

Anyways thanks for everyone who will help.

What shoes to buy

Hi everyone,

It’s been a long time since I last checked out what's new in climbing shoes.

I’ve had two pairs of La Sportiva Skwamas in my true-to-size (EU 46). Overall, the breakdown was just okay. They felt slightly loose around the ankle (the closure strap is shitty as hell) but otherwise fit alright. I could maybe downsize by 0.5 at most, but no more than that.

For context:

  • Foot Shape: Slightly wider than average (not huge, but definitely wide).
  • Build: I’m a heavy climber (1m95 / 93 kg), and it’s mostly lean mass so I can’t drop much weight.
  • The Problem: I feel like soft rubber gets totally crushed under my weight. I end up slipping on footholds even when my placement is solid. On top of that, I keep blowing through the toes (my current Skwamas already have freaky holes starting after just 8 months climbing ~2x a week, including a partial 3-month break).

I’m thinking stiffer shoes might be better for me, but I’m not sure. I enjoy all climbing styles, but I lean heavily toward pinches and crimps/edges.

I was looking at the Scarpa Chimera, but heard they might be too narrow. The Tenaya line also looks cool especially the new Aruma.

Would love to hear any recommendations or advice. Thanks
