The other two boogymen

The other two boogymen

The bad men come in threes, and today was a very bad day to be a King salmon.

This is what a 20lber looks like, weighed 20.5lbs on the scale before bleeding and gutting. When it saw the net it pulled 100' of drag. It was definitely the longest fight of the morning.

Beating a dead horse about Oxen waiting bug.

Hello lords!

Yesterday I saw a post claiming that Greg and the dev team have isolated and fixed the "oxen waiting for guide" big. Do we have a timeline for when that hot fix will be in place? The bug is game breaking and my cities are at a standstill no matter what I do to try and remedy the problem.

Acceptable loss when fusion splicing.

EDIT: I want to be abundantly clear that .02 db loss or less per splice WAS NOT a requirement from the customer. The customer's ONLY requirement for connections was that the new data infrastructure works. My company took it upon ourself to present passing fluke certification for every copper and fiber cable we've pulled. I know this general Foreman well, and have worked with him for many years. It was actually him that insisted on giving them passing fluke test results. We are replacing our customers entire data infrastructure. It consists of hundreds of miles of new copper and fiber optic cabling. I'm an IBEW sound and com foreman, I just haven't done a lot of splicing until this current project. I think the general Foreman is just making up the requirement of a .02 db loss or less per splice because I know that he isn't super familiar with fusion splicing, either.

Hello,

I've been fusion splicing for months setting up the backbone connections for a large commercial project. I'm wondering what you all would consider acceptable loss estimates on single mode fiber. I'm using a Fujikara 45s.

The General Foreman told me to cut and re-splice any splices that estimate loss above .02. When I Google acceptable loss, it says that anything below .05 db is considered good work, and that generally anything below .1 is acceptable. We're certifying every splice with a fluke tester, and it appears that the limit for a "pass" on end to end testing is .3 db.

Is re-doing splices with a loss above .02 db overkill? What loss estimate causes you all to cut and re-splice a connection?

Thank you.

Best practices for city logistics

Hello fellow lords,

I've been playing this game now for a couple months and have made a couple discoveries that really optimize my cities. Specifically, my market supply, crafting supply, and burrage plot supply have drastically improved since I implemented these changes. I will share them here and invite anyone else with insights on City optimization and best practices to leave their advice.

For my supply chain, I have found that it is best to build my settlement around a central market. This centralized market will supply about 80 plots with everything they need. Once I have passed the 80 plot threshold I build a second market along with the granaries and storage houses to support it.

I have two sets of granaries and storage houses for each market I build. One granary will supply the market. That granary will have market stalls enabled, and in the advanced tab I will set it to only store food and herb. The second greenery will be for crafting materials and ale. The second granary will not have market stalls enabled. It will hold everything besides food. For my storehouses, the first storehouse will have market stalls enabled and will only store military equipment, charcoal, clothing, and shoes. This storehouse is to supply the market with everything that the residents of my plots need. The second storehouse is for crafting and maintenance. This second storehouse will store all crafting materials, tools, and firewood. It does not store anything that residential plots require, and it is solely to optimize my supply chain.

To avoid bottlenecks at the entrances of my granaries and storehouses, I have them on their own designated Road that creates a loop branching off of a main road. It is important that there is space between the buildings and that they only touch the road at the entrance. Do not surround them with roads or your workers will get stuck and bottleneck your supply chain.

Implementing these changes to my cities resulted in way less bottlenecks of workers getting stuck, and it caused my burrage plots to acquire the required materials for upgrading and hold on to those materials quicker and longer.

For my road Network, I have made sure that I have double wide streets for my main street. Anything that is going to see a large amount of traffic will get a double wide street to avoid bottlenecks.

Please post your tips below.

Looking to hire a fabricator with a 3D printer.

Hello fellow Shelton residents,

I am trying to find an object that I sorely need for my work and I am coming up short. I'm a union electrician working on a large job site where I am required to wear safety glasses. Unfortunately, my eye glasses are Ray Bans (model 5279). The frame on my glasses is too large for the normal attachable side shields. I need somebody to create a side shield that fits the temples of my glasses frame. There are ones on Amazon that work for the standard classic ray ban design, the wayfarers, but my frame's temples are smaller and I can't find any side shields that I can use.

The over the glasses safety glasses suck and I hate them. I can't go without my glasses. My prescription is unique and I can't just order them in a safety glass frame.

I need side shields that will fit. I need someone willing to design and print them. I will pay for the service and can point in the right direction for the designing. I don't think it'll be too hard, I just don't have a 3D printer.

Does anyone want to do this work for me, or have a recommendation of a place that will? I will pay. I just can't find what I need online.
