There's a heat warning for the next 4 days (Tuesday-Saturday), how are you planning to adjust your running?

This is my first year running in Toronto's heat and humidity, so I'd love to hear how you're planning to handle it. Are you getting up earlier? Taking more fluids with you? Using any special gear? Are you some kind of mutant who is unphased by a 40+ humidex? Are you just saying "fuck that" and getting on the treadmill?

For my own contribution, one of my favourite ways to treat myself after hot summer runs is with homemade electrolyte popsicles - just make your favourite electrolyte/hydration product at 2x or 3x strength, pour into popsicle molds, and freeze. If you're feeling fancy you can add fruit (either whole, chopped, or pureed), yogurt/milk for a creamsicle version, mint, a little lime zest or citric acid (if you're a sour fiend like I am), or whatever other flavour enhancements sound good to you. I'm lazy af so usually just go for the standard tbh

We got priDEMONth nails at home

Last pic is the inspo, Bill Crisafi's iconic Miss Phillip.

These took me so frickin' long to do. All in, including a practice run and taking the pictures, I spent at least 12 hours on this mani 😵‍💫 but I love them, so it was totally worth it, right???

My polish collection is relatively small, so every single colour you see on my nails with the exception of the black, the green, and the red, were made by mixing other polishes. I *did* purchase both a red and a yellow polish specifically for this look, but a) they were holes I wanted to fill anyway so I could expand my nail art options, and b) I've had this planned for a while so I just kept an eye on the sales at my local drugstore and was able to pick them both up at a steep discount.

These took an unreasonably long time to do, but I'm quite pleased with how my priDEMONth nails inspired by Bill Crisafi's iconic Miss Phillip turned out

First two pics are of the nails, third is the inspo (prints of which are available for purchase on Bill Crisafi's website), and fourth is all the polish and tools I used to make it happen.

My polish collection is relatively small, so I had to do a lot of colour mixing for this one. I also have atrocious fine motor skills, particularly with my non-dominant hand, so I did a lot of practice beforehand, and doing the art was incredibly stressful lol. All told, including practice, a dry run at colour-mixing, actual mani, and taking pictures (which was an adventure in itself), I probably spent about 12 hours on this look 😵‍💫

But I love them! Miss Phillip in particular makes me smile whenever I look at her.

All of the mini bottles you can see in the last photo are from the dollar store. They come in sets of six and the colours don't have individual names, but the brand is Lori. The rest of the products are, from left to right:

  • Paint It Pretty Sticky Basecoat
  • Paint It Pretty Basecoat
  • Essence Just White
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Day cream
  • Essence Sugar Blush
  • OPI Suzi Without a Paddle

  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Red Eye
  • Sally Hansen Snow Globe
  • Paint It Pretty Topcoat

Where do you do your hill training?

Help a Vancouver transplant out - where are your fave spots in the city to get your hill repeats in?

I live near Bay & College but I like a change of scenery now and then so as long as it's transit-accessible I'm open to anywhere!

Best buffet/AYCE that's not sushi?

My roommate's birthday is coming up so I'd like to take him out somewhere fun to celebrate and he *loves* a buffet or anywhere you can get a little bit of everything. We usually do sushi, but I'd like to switch it up for a change.

We live downtown, but happy to travel further afield for good food!
