Bit of an awkward time for the last home game of the season but think we can all agree, that extra 2 days rest before we play the final is absolutely massive.
I’ve now completed this fight on 2/4 of my classes (Samurai and Archer). Done with random matchmaking, no glitches, no photo mode bullshit. Just old fashioned time and effort.
I’m going to use this experience as an opportunity to offer people some helpful tips on how to get through this encounter, especially with random matchmaking.
LEARN TO PARRY THE FUCKING SHADOWS!
That’s it. That’s the only tip you need. Just stay alive for the love of all that’s good in this world. The fight is intense but it’s only that way because people cannot stay alive so you get overlapping spam of Saito mechanics with whatever mechanic spawns in on a teammates death. Remove that and it’s a very straightforward, manageable experience.
If you’re struggling to parry the shadows, throw some parry window onto your gear. Yes, you won’t now have your optimal build but you’ll be alive and that’s so much more important. If you die right before the dragon does his targeting attack it can end an entire run. If you die when the giant Bo-Hiya are out it can end an entire run.
No, that extra hit on Saito is not worth it because now he’s clapped your cheeks and that extra DPS has just cost way more DPS potential because you’re crawling around on the floor and somebody else has to stop killing things/damaging the boss, whilst now navigating whatever shadow member of the Yotei 6 has spawned in, to come and pick you up.
You will still die occasionally. We all know some of the bullshit that goes on in this game. Enemies flying across the map with insane tracking. You’ll die to shadows sometimes.. they spawn in from an angle you can’t see, you get staggered by something else right as the shadow attacks you, you’re trying to pick somebody up and don’t notice them coming in. It happens. Mistakes happen. But please at least attempt to minimise those mistakes and get the basics down because people that can’t stay alive in this fight (whether from inability to parry shadows or just being greedy damaging the boss) are the ONLY thing making this fight almost impossible for some people.
So I bought an early version of the Dualsense Edge when it released and after a month or 2 the grips bubbled, peeled and looked horrendous.
I sent this back through PlayStation repairs and after a couple weeks they just sent me a brand new controller. I’ve had that sat in the box now for over a year. Loved the controller, hated the poor battery life and terrified of the same bubbling issue happening again to the grips. I didn’t spend almost £200 on a controller to have it look like shit in a month so instead I’ve spent £200 on a controller to have it sit in the box for 18 months 🙃
There’s some great modding services and a lot I’ve found through Reddit but most are US based and with customs and shipping charges they’re unfortunately just too expensive to be worth it.
Does anybody know of any UK based reliable send in services that do controller mods? Ideally looking to replace the battery and give it a custom shell to avoid the rubber grips issue.
