Dualsence 5 Charging Slowly on PC

Greetings,

I play games on PC for decades now. 1 year ago i heard that steam supports Dualsence 5 and was really great, then i bought it to play games with it on my PC.

But here i have been using for more than 1 year now, i am using a USB-A to USB-C cable and connect the controller with my motherboards USB-A 3.2(Gen1). The charging is significantly very low, it takes roughly 5-7 hours to get fully charged from nil(barely on).

Now my motherboard is MSI B450 Tomahawk Max which also has USB-A 3.2(Gen2) and USB-C(Gen2) ports. I havnt tried the direct C-C port yet, and i heard the Gen2 USB-A-C doesnt help much. Now is there any solution to this, to draw more power from my PC, or need to go alternate ways?

PS5 DualSense won't power on from battery after Hall effect joystick replacement

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help with a DualSense controller after replacing both analog sticks with Hall effect joysticks.

Here are the symptoms:

The controller is detected by the PS5 and works over USB.

The orange charging LED turns on when connected to USB.

Without the battery connected, there is no charging animation.

With the battery connected, the charging animation appears.

However, the controller will not power on from the battery alone.

I left it charging for over 2 hours with no change.

Haptic feedback/vibration does not work.

I inspected both sides of the motherboard. I don't see any missing SMD components, lifted pads, or obvious solder bridges.

I also reflowed several solder joints to make sure they were making good contact.

The problem started immediately after replacing the joysticks.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Dualsense edge modding

Hi guys, i wanted to start modding for the first time the dualsense edge after modding countless times the standard dualsense ( which it was fun) but before starting on a new project as always i wanna gather helpful information before damage ahahahha
I wanna start by weight reduction mods on the edge then i plan on buying new backshell and tmr , my main question is: can the trigger motors be removed safely without issues? I know that rumble motors are safely removable because they are attached with a plug that you can remove with tweezers but what about the trigger motors? Can you remove them safely? I saw they have soldered wires to the trigger board if i desolder them and remove the trigger motor successfully does the dualsense edge still boot or causes initialization errors and will blink only?

USBs always Loose

What it states in the title.

I play fighting games competitively and my PS5 controller keeps disconnecting, I play on PC but use PS5 Controller.

This does not happen with any of my 5 other Xbox controllers with any USB combination. I don't want to use xbox controller as I hate them for fighting games.

I've AI/Googled it and it's all nonsense. It's been loose since I bought it, there is no lint in it or any of those other suggestions.

I think there is a specific USB that I need to use for it but I don't want to spend £20 to get one, does anyone have a snug fitting USB they use?

Wired 8000Hz vs. DS5Dongle

So I want to finally play FF7 Remake and Rebirth but wasnt aware of the horrible M&K support on PC. Tried it for 1 hour and it was horrible. So I looked into PS5 controllers and input lag etc and found 2 interesting topics. Overclocking to 8000hz (wired) and wireless via the diy DS5Dongle (emulates normal wired connection).

Im very sensitive when it comes to input delay and whatnot, so my question is:

Is it worth the "tradeoff" of playing wired but having the option to overclock to 8000? Or is it indistinguishable compared to wireless with DS5Dongle and 1000hz PR?

My Custom Edge swap.

This so much better than the all black with white inlays on the default buttons, swapped my white edge shell to black and buttons to blue with a Retro Home button.

This came out perfectly for me and wanted to share, any questions? I will send links and answer every reply.

Thank you. 🙏🏾

Best solution for dualsense battery life

I am wondering if there is an external battery you guys recommend, a case mod or something else to deal with how the battery only lasts a day or so

L3 not working properly

Just replaced joysticks for TMR sticks and L3 only works without the last piece of the controller shell

I already made sure the solder points weren’t high for L3 so it’s not a clearance issue

This is NOT an issue with R3 on the controller

Using Minecraft as the example game since it shows your character in the corner when running with L3

Since these go over so well, here is another. Lol

Just another build to see some love and hate on. I know the trolls are out. They are everyday. Of course with TMR sticks.

Edge BackPlate

My backplate grip has started bubbling. I’ve tried a few things so far and it’s all kinda lack luster. Does anyone have a product they liked?

- Back Cover by Plauduct is rubbery, not much for grip. Visually good tho.
- eXtremeRate looks better online than it feels in your hands.
- Back Cover by VOOCAT I’ve not tried it but it looks identical to the Plauduct one above so I just assumed they’re both drop-shippers at this point.
- ModdedZone has a supposed OEM shell you can buy. Does anyone have experience of this is actually OEM or not?

Any other alternatives on how to fix a peeled rubber grip that doesn’t work out mediocre?

Frustrating that Sony isn’t selling replacement parts for this themselves…

Dual Sense Edge Aluminum Tape Mod (for allergy)

I know I'm coming off as crazy, but I'm allergic to plastic and polyester.

Not fun.

After trying athletic cotton tape and paper medical grade tape, the best thing I've found is aluminum tape; for a regular dual sense controller I have metal button mods, but haven't found any metal button mods for my dual sense edge.

Luckily the aluminum tape adheres to the buttons, triggers and D pad and hasn't really budged after 100+ hours of use.

Still, anyone know of metal button or trigger mods for the dual sense edge? Any other suggestions?

I know it's fugly, while I get better at ironing out the wrinkles with each controller I do, it's still a solid 6+ hour process and at the end of the day I need something functional; I gave up on aesthetics a while ago when the allergy popped up.

Bitches for reference.

(Also re-post as you could make out my address from one of the dog's tag)

Huge desing flaw of Dualsense V2 CFI-ZCT2W

In the latest revision of Dualsense, they placed the friction rings directly on the faceplate instead of the shell itself. It is no longer possible to replace the friction rings without replacing the entire faceplate, but in my opinion, that isn't even the biggest issue.

The friction rings are now on the thin faceplate rather than the shell, meaning the joystick applies force directly to a faceplate held in place only by weak, flexible clips. After a short time, the torque from the joystick causes these clips to flex, and the faceplate itself begins to shift around as you move the joystick. This not only ruins the feel of the joystick, but it also causes a creaking sound as the clips loosen up.

Worse yet, if you ever remove and reinstall the faceplate for any reason, you're out of luck. The plastic clips completely lose their structural integrity, and the shifting and creaking of the faceplate increase drastically. For that reason I went back to using my old one. I highly recommend staying away from the latest revision.

Xbox Elite Series 2 TMR

I freshly installed some tmr joysticks for this client a couple days ago, calibrated and everything good, now he came back because the bumpers were going out I had to remove the right stick because it was needed because of the design of the gulikit tensioning tmr for the es2, I wasn’t able to calibrate through the Xbox accessories app the range was so off and I couldn’t complete the circle, so exit the program to attempt another method of calibrating and that’s when I noticed that the right stick just went haywire and the joystick was completely fine before hand was just so short of range I couldn’t complete the circle, but I’m stuck now since I never encountered this type of problem and I’m coming to the conclusion that it must be a bad calibration but I have no way to over ride it, has anyone came with this type of problem if so how did you fix this
