Teachers and Speech Time

Should I give teachers a heads up on the proposed speech time I have for their students or just run my schedule as planned and hope for the best??

I have diligently looked over our Master Schedule to ensure I’m not taking students out of any essential time (recess, lunch, specials) or other IEP service conflicts.

I cannot remember what I did last year! I was thinking of sending an email??

Indirect Speech in Schools??

I’m new to the schools (coming from home health) and am only used to direct therapy. In my district all students have indirect minutes (most just have 1, 15 minute session per month, put some students have 2 or 3 indirect sessions). What the actual heck am I supposed to do with that time??? Am I observing in class? Talking with teachers on progress they’re seeing? Should I be contacting parents to discuss carryover activities???

It just seems overwhelming to have to do this indirect time for almost 80 students.

Life Skills push-in Speech Sessions

This is my 3rd year working in the schools and I’m still not quite sure how to best deliver therapy with my life skills kids.

When you push-in for life skills, what do you do exactly? Is assisting with communication during circle time or class activities appropriate?

I really hate doing push-in, as I don’t like an audience. In the past, I’ve found that bringing my own materials into the class can be highly distracting and some sped teachers have not liked that. I understand I am the expert and it’s up to me to figure out what’s best for these students.

Edit: this is an elementary school and these students are seen 3x per week for 15 minute sessions.

Home Health- Daycare/Preschool setting ONLY

Is it possible to get a job in home health and only accept patients who are seen at daycare/preschool. I worked in home health a few years ago and just do not feel comfortable being in other people’s homes at this point. Im sure the time to build a full caseload would take a long time, but wondering if anyone has ever done this.

If anyone has experience with this I’d love to know more!

How to keep mom away from me on wedding day??

I have an extremely opinionated mother. She always makes remarks on my appearance. Even at my most beautiful, she always seems to find something to make me feel insecure about. I’ve had multiple conversations with her on this and she has never changed. Don’t get me wrong, she is a nice person overall and a good mom for the most part. Her fatal flaw is vanity. She does it with all my family members. It’s like she thinks we are her Barbies to dress up and fit what she wants.

For those out there with a judgmental mother that always finds a way to comment on your appearance- how on earth do you keep them away from you on the wedding day??

Dental office withholding reimbursement

I began Invisalign treatment at an in- network dental office in late January. I triple checked that my insurance (Cigna) covered this treatment and surprisingly they cover the full treatment amount with a small patient responsibility of $450. I was so excited to hear this and moved forward with the treatment.

The dental office told me that in order to start treatment and get my trays that I needed to pay out-of-pocket since it would take some time for the claim to be processed by insurance / for the office to get paid by them. I agreed to pay out of pocket and they put me on a monthly payment plan for the full Invisalign cost (roughly $6000). I assumed that once insurance paid and the claim was processed, I’d be reimbursed.

Fast forward and the claim was indeed processed and dental office paid back in March. I brought this to the dental office attention at the time and they informed me I would be reimbursed once my treatment was complete (should have got this in writing).

So now it’s July and I’m officially done with my Invisalign treatment. I’ve had a lot of back and forth with the dental office, but they are trying to act like all I have paid for is a down payment of $500 and stating that this wasn’t covered by insurance. Obviously I have bank statements and my patient account stating my monthly payments for the out-of-pocket payment plan they put me on.

I tried calling the dental office 3x today and got no answer, but when I called from my boyfriend’s phone, they answered immediately. When I pressed the office on the matter of reimbursement and this whole ordeal, they proceeded to lie to me and say there was no one there to handle this issue as the billing department was out of office today (my insurance agency had just spoken with the billing team 20 minutes prior) and when I called her out on this, she back pedaled and tried to claim they actually don’t have in-house billing and that a corporate location takes care of billing. (Which I then checked with another location and they informed me that all locations have in-house billing). She refused to give me a phone number or email for the billing team. She agreed to audit my account and see if there is some discrepancy.

So far I am owed $2500 and still have 6 more months of payment for Invisalign treatment, even though insurance has already paid them for the full treatment. This is a chain dental company so I’m not too worried, but my particular location is closing at the end of the month. So I’m at least a little worried I won’t ever see my money again!

What can I do to get my money back??

Why is my blonde not how I want??

I recently moved cities and have been on the hunt for a hair stylist I vibe with and enjoy their work. I tried a salon close to my home about 4 weeks ago and ask for the vanilla/creamy blonde seen in pic 1. This salon specializes in blonde so I was feeling good. I left the salon with the hair in pic 2- very warm almost strawberry looking. I’ve never gone back to a salon for a correction so I tried to be okay with it. But after 3 weeks, I couldn’t stand it. I went back in this past week and explained that I’m looking for a brighter blonde and used the same reference pic. I left the salon after the correction with hair in pic 3.

Why is this not matching the creamy bright inspo?? I feel like I’m going crazy. This is definitely closer to what I wanted, but it feels too dark.

For reference: I’m a natural level 8/9 kind of dirty blonde.

I said yes!! Ideas on overskirt and shoes!

I would love ideas on an overskirt for this dress. I wanted the extra drama for the ceremony, but I’m not sure if any overskirt would go with this dress. And totally lost on what shoes!

I also appreciate any ideas on hair, veil, and any accessories- my dress comes with gloves as pictured but not sure if I’ll wear them.

Does my pup have separation anxiety??

My fiance has convinced himself that our 6 month puppy has separation anxiety and I think he’s only making things worse. Our pup is definitely in that hormonal teen phase currently. He’s crate trained and will nap in his crate and sleep through the night in his crate. However, if we are gone for over 30 minutes he will start barking in his crate. He doesn’t tear things up, he’s not panting, and it does not appear to be panic barking.

So because of this we still have not left him longer than an hour alone… and we’ve had him for 4 months…

Anyways can someone let me know if this is normal puppy behavior or something more.

I’m the MOH and have been planning the Bach trip with the help of another bridesmaid. The bride chose our location, but other than that I’ve taken the reigns. It’s about 3 months away and I’m not sure when I should share details with the bride.
