Do you remember your first solo trip?

I had broken up with my boyfriend of 3 years nearly a decade ago and the first thing I did was book a solo trip. I went to Barcelona. I was adamant on not relying on my phone so I printed things off, made notes of what to do when I got off at the airport, which metro line to get and directions to the hostel. I remember asking the guys at the metro station if I was at the right stop but they were so rude (even though I asked in Spanish).

Anyway, I must've walked around the block 4 times before getting so annoyed that I couldn't find the hostel. Took out my phone and turns out the hostel was right behind me. In that moment I was kind of annoyed that I had to use my map at the last minute but looking back at it I was a 24 year old who had managed to fly from London to Barcelona all on her own, doing everything on her own without technology and I am so glad I did that.

I just remember feeling so free and so happy to explore. The best feeling. It's been a decade since that trip and I still travel solo where I can. It's not as alluring now I must admit. I have been mainly all over Europe and now at 34 I like travelling with people (very specific people though). But today I got nostalgic.

What was your first solo trip? And why was it so special, other than just being your first?

Why am I so hooked from the first episode?

So I know Oliver Chris from Trying, Luke Pasqualino from Criminal Record, David Tennant is well David Tennant and even though I know Parkinson has done other things, the first time I saw her was in Taskmaster. Anyway, I don’t know it if is because of them or the show itself but I’m only half hour into the first episode and I love it already? I’m really looking forward to watching the rest of It!

Tell me stories

last year i was incredibly fit, running half marathons, running sub 30 5ks, and was just in the best shape of my life. around last autumn i stopped running as frequently and only ran maybe once or twice a week. in December i started training for a half, which i did not do in the end because i know i would have ended up resenting running and I never wanted to reach that point. so from end of feb until end of March i only did strength training and then around mid April i started running again twice a week, but only could do walk run. did it annoy me? yes. did it stop me? no. earlier this week i did my usual 5k without stopped for the first time in maybe 3 months? im still incredibly slow (i did it in about 38 minutes) but i don’t care, i just care that i did it.

but now my knee is acting up. and it is such a beautiful day today and i really want to go for a run and i am being sensible instead and resting until i can squat properly without it hurting.

anyway, tell me your real life running stories of how it’s been consistent but rocky for you. i know i will probably be able to run next week but i am also in luteal phase and I’m feeling booey so other people’s stories will be good to read this fine Friday morning :)

So I've been rewatching the older series and just thinking about team dynamics and I was wondering, who is your favourite team and why?

  1. Javie Martzoukas is my all time favourite for obvious reasons, they just worked so well together. Everything about them was perfect.
  2. Ed Gamble and David Baddiel but that's purely because of how bad it was *brain fart I know they're not a team, but that diabolical live task is what I think of when I think of funny and failed team dynamics (EDIT)
  3. Nish Kumar and Mark Watson. Again I feel like they gelled so well together and their song was just *chef's kiss*

I would give honourable mention to Bridget Christie, Sophie Duker and Judi Love.

They all have very different energies but they're my favourites.

Hey all

So I sold my ticket for one of the European gigs and am going to the one in london instead (I’m gonna be there for the summer anyway and I am in the midst of a massave life change and couldn’t be bothered to fly out for that gig). Thing is I was thinking of driving to the stadium for the gig and then driving back to where I’ll be staying. I don’t know if this is a daft idea but I’m just so worried about missing last trains.

Would anyone else be driving? or does anyone else have an experience of driving to that stadium in particular? I saw there is no parking on the stadium but I think I found spots around the stadium to park for the evening. Anyway any advice would be much appreciated!

So I've rewatched my comfort series to death and thought I'd move onto the series I've not re-watched since I first saw them. Series 8 is one of them. Honestly, sure, Iain is incredibly competitive and shouty, but I dunno if this is a shared sentiment, but I find Lou really annoying? I dunno she's just doing my head in lol

I love Joe. He is so incredibly oblivious, and I saw someone on Youtube say that every time he reads/does a task at the end it's like he's seen a ghost and I feel like it's so spot on.

Paul is so endearing. And Sian is just adorable. She and Joe as a team are so nice. The other 3 though, I can see how they butt heads. I just re-watched the hammock task and while Iain was chaos (which I feel is very in line with one of the types of characters you get for this show), Lou was just so annoying.

I dunno if others share the same opinion but that's just what I think upon my re-watch.
