ADHD Rant...Feeling Lost and Confused

Not sure if anyone will take the time to read and respond to this, but I went to see my psychiatrist today and need to vent a bit. I am not asking for medical advice. I just thought maybe someone else out there has been through a similar experience and can offer some words of advice or wisdom.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD at 34 after going through a severe burnout and seeking help. Depression and anxiety have been major issues for me throughout my life and I am currently on Prozac and Vyvanse. While I am far from 100%, I feel like I have come a long way. I am now able to get out of bed and be somewhat productive for most of the day. I told my doctor that I still struggle with executive dysfunction at times and wanted to discuss adjusting my meds. I was trying to explain that I have some moments where I feel clear headed and able to function reasonably well. Peaks and valleys was how I described it. Mornings start out rough until my Vyvanse kicks in and then I have a 2 to 3 hour window where I feel somewhat normal, followed by a crash in the late afternoon.

My doctor thought I meant manic episodes and mood swings and immediately suggested to stop taking the Prozac and Vyvanse and start on Vraylar for bipolar disorder and we discussed BPD as well. I was very alarmed and a bit frightened by this idea. I explained that I am finally getting to a point where I feel like I can function and possibly get back to work soon after being unemployed for 2 months. I just thought that maybe a different med combo could help a bit more.

After we talked for a while, we agreed to leave the medication alone for now. They ordered genetic testing to try to identify what meds and dosages might work better for me. I was glad we were able to talk through this and clarify things, but the appointment left me feeling very confused. My mind has been racing ever since I left and I keep thinking maybe I am bipolar or maybe I don't even have ADHD or maybe it's both. Sorry for the long rant. I just feel lost and needed to get this off my chest.

Confused and lost. Unsure what to do.

Hi everyone. I am really struggling at the moment and could use some help. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and have struggled with my mental health for years. I feel like I am in a burnout right now and quit my job. I am currently seeing a psychiatrist and asked if AuDHD could explain some of my severe struggles over the years. I was told the process to seek a diagnosis could take months to years and have reached out to a couple of specialists and have not even heard back. Has anyone else been through this? If so do you have any suggestions?

My main concern is my 2 year old. I want to be the best version of myself for her and also want to help her as much as possible so she doesn't struggle throughout life like me. I have seen some signs with her that have me worried she will end up like me but hard to tell if it is just normal 2 year old behavior.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
