3D Greenhouse, my first project. (Finished Object)

I am hoping my project fits in this sub- I am new to embroidery as a whole and am still learning the different classifications. Apologies in advance if my project doesn’t fit here.

I am experienced in Macrame & Crochet but came across this pattern on Pinterest and couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I had to make it. This was my first attempt at any kind of embroidery art and I’m thrilled with it.

I ended up using 27 skeins of DMC thread on 7count plastic canvas. I used the entire 6 strands of thread for my stitches since the canvas holes were pretty large. I unfortunately did not keep track of my working time, but it easily took more than 40 hours to complete. I could have probably worked a bit faster if I was more experienced. I left an opening on the bottom to insert flickering tealights.

The pattern is from Crossstitcher Magazine 2021 no.374. My changes were using plastic canvas instead of aida for better structure, using brown thread for the structure instead of white, and using black thread for outlining details instead of dark grey.

EDIT: Couldn’t figure out how to post/crosspost this to the crossstitch sub

Thrifted a 1936 Kodak Bantam Special

I found this 1936 Kodak Bantam Special (compur-rapid shutter) at an estate sale in New York’s Capital Region about a month ago.

I knew I had to have this in my collection so I arrived to the estate sale an hour early and ended up 5th in line (estate sales can get pretty wild sometimes). The seller wanted $330, I offered $280, and we agreed on $300. It was far more than I was originally willing to spend, but I realized afterwards that my pricing estimate was unrealistic, especially since it is in beautiful working condition. This is easily the coolest camera in my collection and the art deco style is incredibly unique.

The 1941 version with supermatic shutter is rarer and worth more than the compur-rapid shutter. 828 film is also not produced anymore, but I’d love to try film conversion with 35mm.

Kodak cameras hold a special place in my heart since I received my photography degree in Rochester, NY- the birthplace and home of Eastman Kodak. Sometimes I sit and wonder if this camera had ever been taken out of New York State over its lifetime.

Lil Yachty let me take his photo with my Kodak Charmera at the Belmont Stakes! Some of my favorite images that I've taken with my charmera.

I typically post these on an IG highlight dedicated to my charmera. I keep it in my purse and bring it with me everywhere that I go! It's a great conversation starter.

Collages 1-2: Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Springs, NY

Collages 3-4: Hiking in Ithaca, NY
