Colin had spent the past hour laying out the perfect arrange of fireworks in the lawn of the mansion, he layer them out so that he could light them all in a row with his powers, moving to the start of that line he got into a runners position And closed his eyes.

he breathed in and out as an orange energy crackled over his body and his palms and feet began to emit smoke “okay Colin gotta go fast for this to be perfect” before within the blink of an eye he blasted himself along the arrangement lighting each firework as they shot into the sky using his explosions until eventually after around 42 fireworks were lit and shot into the sky he went crashing into the woods hitting a tree.

he landed on his back as the rockets shot up and he grinned as they exploded in the air visible for the residents of the mansion “happy Fourth of July from the best explosive mutant at the mansion of course brought to you by yours truly”

Colin woke up in the medbay exhausted, the previous night had been spent getting bullets removed from his body, he had gotten them from his encounter with grey while she was under hydra's control, now both of them were back in the mansion...safe, he hoped at least.

he oddly felt good, better than most days, he sat up checked with the people who had operated on him about any damage he had received, learning he had received some nerve damage to his right leg as well as generally across his body from a shotgun blast...but he still smiled, through it all...he was alive, grey was alive from what he could tell, the people he had fought alongside were alive and well, and through it all he smiled and kept his usual casual self-going

colin walked into the kitchen in the mansion with an almost lifeless expression on his face, his stress about grey's disappearance had left his mind spiraling, so he did something to clear his mind. He cooked.

he grabbed the various ingredients needed and began to roll out a nice pizza dough, eventually turning on some music on his phone (most likely a lot of Billy Joel), and after around 10 minutes of working, he began to smile, all he had to do was smile louder than his fear, while he worked right here, smile through the doubt, smile through the dread, break through the fear like the sun through the clouds, he'd try to be strong

eventually he was tapping his foot, humming along to the music, making the sauce, putting the cheese on, adding each layer to the crust, even in these dark times, he managed to crack a smile and try to have a good time
