Maranta Lemon Lime

This guy is quite happy! And so much fun to photograph. I accidentally left out in 90+ degree direct sun for half the day, and with the exception of a few brown spots he bounced right back. I live in dry SoCal and it's adapted fine to low humidity but I always use purified water.

Clearance Silver Dragon Alocasia - next steps?

I found this Alocasia Silver Dragon in the clearance section at Ace. $2! Figured it's worth a shot for that price.

I just took the corms out of the nursery pot after letting it sit for a week at home. Roots are healthy.

I have two alocasias I've successfully grown for 1-2 years, but I'd love some specific advice from the alocasia experts for next steps because somehow I still don't quite understand these guys. What size pot should I plant them in? Ideal soil composition (I use fox farms + whatever amendments are right for each plant)? Should I put in a humidity dome for a bit? Should I peel off the plant collars around the big ones? Is foliage pro a good fertilizer for alocasias?

Would appreciate all the tips!

My $7 clearance syngonium after four months - just want to share!

I found a 6" Neon robusta on clearance at the grocery store back in May and I'm so impressed with the beast it has turned into! It wasn't in bad shape when I got it, just bursting out of the pot with growth and now here we are ☺️ this is a 13" planter. Rare plants are nice but I keep finding I often love my more "basic" plants the most because of their performance.

EDIT for those asking about care: the real winner is the perfect bright light spot outdoors all summer. I also use foliage pro with most waterings and treat the water with stresscoat+.
AND when I potted it in this planter, I divided the plant into six clumps and placed them evenly around the bowl so I had six plants that all filled in together.

Imposter Furniture I want to love - help!

Long story short, my MIL lost her home to the LA fires in Jan 2025. She lived with us for a while and during that time I took her to all the free furniture events for fire victims. Well, she still hasn't found a permanent home and nearly two years later our home is still cluttered with all the extra furniture we collected. She just gave us the go ahead to donate what we don't want, and now I suddenly see the value in this cabinet i've hated this whole time. But its SO UGLY. However the storage potential is amazing and I feel like this could be a cool furniture makeover. My personal style is like a combo of the styles of Pierce & Ward and Amber Interiors, combined with MCM style. I love high quality antiques and mixing styles. Would love any ideas to elevate this piece!

My Dad's 55 year-old Aralia

He bought this as a small, single stick houseplant during college in Wisconsin. He would bring it home every summer for his mom to care for, and sometimes it was fed beer while back at school. It has traveled with him through every move and still thriving. I couldn't find reliable information about lifespan of these plants, but my mom says it's unusual for it to sprout from the trunk. We're wondering if this could be showing an end of lifespan?

I am planning to propagate it -- needs a good trim. Would appreciate any propagation tips and ID help!
