Has anyone used a tiny wood stove for their small space?

As the title says I have been looking at the tiny wood stove- the Dwarf 4k specifically for my tiny house. The reviews I’ve seen are all good regarding craftsmanship and customer service. I like the idea of a factory made heat shield (more for the kids not the wall clearance) I am in the US and I’m inclined toward a US based stove company but I’m willing to check out recommendations for other small stoves if you have any. Cheers!

Gimme a break

Alright I’m pissed. This was in my boxers. Way too close to “the boys”… How does something so small even manage to bite human skin? Ticks have officially robbed me of my sanity I won’t be able to relax until wintertime. I am constantly checking myself but I still get bit daily. I already have Lyme disease, the authentic kind… from Lyme, CT… if you got it anywhere else it’s just sparkling nerve damage 🥵 but where I’m at now in midcoast Maine (USA by the way) has by far the worst tick populations I’ve ever seen. I find dozens every day. Even after thorough tick checks I frequently scrub them off me in the shower, wake up to them crawling on me in bed… I just cannot win. It is exhausting to constantly be on edge and I feel like the ticks are just going to win and finally make me into a raisin pretty soon. This is hell. I need help. Send reinforcements

In search of eastern milk snakes in Maine (midcoast)

Hey all, I live on a farm in midcoast Maine (Waldoboro) and I’ve found more snakes in the past week than the past 10 years of my life put together! I’ve always loved snakes since I was a kid and now I’m on the hunt for another new (to me) species. I’ve read as much as I can online and I’ve flipped a thousand rocks and logs, we have old barns, stone walls, open fields, brushy cover, plenty of old boards and junk to flip. I’ll find 4-5 garter snakes sharing a hide pretty frequently, red bellied snakes galore, but can’t seem to find a milk snake!! Any advice for finding milk snakes in the heat of summer? I don’t mind searching at night or early morning. The state of Maine website lists them as being in my area, so I guess I’ll just keep looking. Cheers!

Restarting my collection

I’ve been in a rough patch to say the least. I lost power during a storm two winters ago and froze a few years worth of succulent collection. Still breaks my heart to think about some of my portulacaria. Well, here’s to a new start in all meanings. I’m going to try and stick to cold hardy plants. Sempervivum pictured from a property I used to do the landscaping at. I ended up returning to help with something unrelated and while I was there I got to go shopping out of the rock garden. I can’t wait to start my own garden… they are all in pots for now
