I started going to the gym and..

I.... like it..? I started going because everyone says its good for mental health. And I was desperate for anything to improve that.

I have checked in 3 times so far and I am already feeling the mental benefits. I have had a sedentary lifestyle for a few years now and my body taps out very quickly. And I am sore as a mf the next couple days. I love that no one talks to me and I just get to be in my own world in my headphones for an hour.

But starting the morning feeling like I accomplished something does a ton to set the tone of the rest of the day to be more positive.

I am trying to approach this focusing on the process rather than the outcome. So I am doing it for the sake of my mental health overall, rather than trying to meet some goal weight. This is how i am going to avoid developing an unhealthy relationship with exercise and body image. (Which i am guilty of in the past.)

What do you do to incorporate movement/exercise in your life?

Edit: also if anyone has advice to deal with the sensory hell that is being sweaty that would be amazing. Its SO uncomfortable but I just deal with it

What unwritten social rules to look out for in a gym setting?

Hi gang. Im gonna start going to the gym regularly which is something I've never done before. I am pretty nervous I am gonna end up committing a social faux pas. I just want to be as unobtrusive and unnoticed as possible.

Anyone got experience with what to be mindful of?

Took alfie to swing it was so fun

I was a little self conscious being an adult on the swingset, but my therapist suggested I try it for some me-time :) I really enjoy the repetitive motion of the swings.

My bf bought me a new penguin friend!!

To celebrate 1 year of being together my bf bought me a second hand Ronnie the rockhopper penguin! 🥹

He had a giant hole in his arm when I opened the package, which is probably why he was so affordable. But thankfully I am skilled at sewing and I also had poly pellets to fill it back up with. So I fixed him up good as new!

Now alfie has a penguin buddy to do penguin things with.

His name is Ricky!

Going through a hard time. Here is the squad I brought to work for support!

Normally id just bring alfie but this week is especially hard so I had to enlist bubbles' aid as well.

Pretty sure everyone at my office knows me as the crazy plushie girl by now so its not like I have a reputation of normalcy to upkeep.

Might as well make myself more comfortable and safe feeling.

Random r/plushies appreciation post

Hey gang! I am feeling sappy today i suppose. But just wanted to say that I appreciate you and this community. You guys helped me get started collecting plush again as an adult and provided me with a safe place explore an interest of mine that hasn't always been accepted by the people around me. I love how accepting you all are.

This past year has been an absolute whirlwind of change and it has been super nice to have this space to just sit back and play a bit and see all your plushies and their adventures. But yeah thanks to all of you for being here.

Alfie and I are sending hugs. 🐧

What do you call them? Plushies? Stuffed animals? Stuffiies? Why?

Just a silly question of your preferred terminology for your friends!

I call them plushies/plush. Maybe because I like the way the words feel coming out of my mouth? Idk. Also it has led to minimal misunderstandings when I infodump about them to people.

If you could use 1 song to describe what it feels like to have audhd what song would it be?

For me it is definitely "ego death" by polyphia. The first time i heard this song it felt like someone took my brain activity and composed it into music haha. I felt very seen.

But yeah music is a huge special interest of mine and im always on the hunt for more songs to love. It can have lyrics or be instrumental, it really doesnt matter since your experience is subjective. I just want to hear what audhd sounds like for you!

What kind of plushie do you have the most of? For me it goes: dinos, bunnies, dragons, and crabs!

What kind of animal/plushie do you gravitate towards the most?

My first experience with adhd meds

I was recently put on a very low dose of concerta. I have since been on it a little over a week and holy hell. I cant believe how much I was suffering before.

I held so much stress and tension in my body just from trying to exist at work. Everything hurt all the time. The concerta allows me to sit still at my desk without feeling like I will explode or tear my skin off. I can literally just sit and do my work without the compounding anxiety and discomfort that I always face.

I am calmer. Everything seems easier. It doesnt feel like I've come home from war every day after work anymore.

And you're telling me this is how it is for everyone else all the time?
