My new variegated fire barrels put in ground. Variegation facing east on both and shade on west side of plant in xeriscape.

Variegated fire barrel advice

Need advice for planting these in Central Valley ca in full sun yard. (Some afternoon shade but that’s from neighbors tree). Don’t want to ruin the color but also want them in the ground. I can make a temp shade for this summer but eventually I would like them in full sun. Will they always need afternoon shade? What direction should I face variegated section? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Blue Myrtle cactus cutting

I got this funky clipping from a friend. Will the “ candy cane shape” affect its growth?

Progress report

How my yard looks today vs 2 years ago. I did all of the work myself except for the concrete. Picked up a nasty succulent addiction in the process.

Saguaro seedling advice

Good day all. I recently played some saguaro seeds and now have several seedlings covered with Saran Wrap and in partial central California sun. My question is when do I take the Saran Wrap off and let them breathe fresh air instead of humid air. Should I poke holes in Saran Wrap? They are still quite small but I do see several sprouts? Any helpful advice is GREATLY appreciated. I’m very new to the succulent game and this seems like an intermediate to experienced gardening venture to me but decided to take on the challenge. I know I’m in for a long wait before I see anything that resembles a saguaro but hopefully I can find a way to help them survive. At least better than in the wild. I heard a VERY small percentage make it to 10 years

Does anyone have any recommendations or growing tips for a totem pole clipping……. Possibly 16”. Waited for callous and then put in ground in very sunny area. I live in Central Valley California so sun and heat won’t be an issue…. But slow growth I’ve read is the bane of their existence. Any tips to speed up growth?
