I always kind of joked that I have a food hoarding issue and I also have a fair bit of clutter. But after I went to the shops for the fourth time in a week to buy food and continue to stuff it into my overcrowded fridge and pantry, it dawned on me that the joke may be more real than I thought.

I tend to buy stuff on special because it’s a good bargain when it half price. Sometimes I don’t realise I’ve already bought the product. Veggies will go rotten in the fridge because I’ve bought too much and can’t eat it all in a reasonable time. My freezer/s. (I have more than one freezer space) is packed full of food.

I have to check myself and not buy anything too sweet like biscuits or I will binge eat the lot in a night.

I have kept stuff slightly out of date but thank goodness I am learning to bin things. However, I feel bad for doing so as some stuff I’ve never opened.

I have obesity and had a gastric sleeve due to habitual overeating.

I have had psychologist appointments in the past for eating. But I’m starting to think food hoarding is something else I need to address. Mainly because I’m spending so much money on food and groceries in general.

I believe some stems from trauma growing up. I had a mentally unwell mother and my father was a hoarder as well. In fact they may have also hoarded food.

Just trying to wrap my head around it. Is this something that sounds like a possibility?

In 2024/25 I lost 18kg on Wegovy but had to cease due to cost. Gained all the weight back plus some.

I tried Contrave instead but wasn’t for me. Now I’m about to start again next week. Any advice going forward?

My current school had lovely parents. It is unusual if I end up with a parent who is not grateful for the work we do.

However, I always have a high level of anxiety before conferences. Expecting to be attacked in some way about my teaching. I always go above and beyond for my kids but I always feel it isn’t enough for some parents.

I recognise this is because of trauma from some previous schools (private system) where I was regularly attacked by parents because they took little responsibility when monitoring their child (absentee parenting guilt)and because they outlay a lot of money, they basically push back all responsibility of a child achieving onto the school. So their child’s failings were always my fault.

My anxiety gets really high and I end up eating my way through with chocolate and sugar comfort food. I also struggle to sleep prior. I do think it is a bit of PTSD.

Does anyone else get same level of anxiety?

As per the heading. I am considering buying an Ora 5 on novated lease in October. What is the wait time currently for the cars to be delivered after ordering?

I will be keeping my Toyota Corolla and selling it after the EV is collected.

Preface that I’m in Melbourne, so I can’t attend the game this weekend. I think if we are talking about supporting women on the back of this, we could show that by turning up in spades to the AFLW games. The girls shouldn’t be punished and there should be open support for them.

If you see a little red flashing light on a student’s glasses, it’s likely they are recording something and potentially live streaming.

This is a real concern. I know of one school where a student stalked the teacher then proudly showed them all the photos they’d taken of them around where they lived.

Exams and assessments can be compromised. Parents can have classes live streamed to them.

What would you do if you discovered a student with this in the classroom?

I was under assumption that the meeting ban meant it was teacher directed work. Instead we have been directed to doing mandatory PD training in our usual second hour of meetings. Isn’t this still classed as a meeting? Just in another format?

The whole idea is I can get other marking and preparation work done. This is exactly why we need clear directions in the VGSA. Teacher directed and not some way Principals manipulate the situation.

Me (53F) dating (M53) for 18 months. We don’t live together and own our own homes. He’s just moved an extra 20 minutes drive away. 50 minute trip. So will be harder to visit as I have a demanding job during the week.

He comes to my place sometimes on weekends. The annoying part is he leaves his dirty clothes on my bathroom floor after a shower. First time I picked them up and washed them. I said something to him about not doing it.

Second time I left them behind the door and took a photo and sent it to him. I refused to pick them up all week. He had to pick them up when he arrived. He’s done it again this week. I reminded him to pick them up but lo and behold, when he left and went home, they are still on the floor of my bathroom. This behaviour is starting to make me twitch because I see it as a lack of respect for me and my home.

Not sure if I’m overreacting.

I bought a property towards the end of 2023 in a northern western suburb of Melbourne about 12km from CBD . Paid too much (about $50k more than I should have $655k) because I had buyer fatigue and it seemed to tick enough boxes, I felt the location and suburb is changing . I have had a few agents in recent weeks either cold call me or lob up on my doorstep to do an appraisal. I might take them up on it down the track. There have been a lot of knockdown and townhouse builds in my street. With more been approved.

I didn’t even know there was a term for my property type as a battleaxe , nor did I know this reduces the value. So I didn’t do my homework at the time, which is on me.

I like peace and quiet and being at the back of the black offered a quieter space. There are only two properties on the block as it was subdivided 25 years ago. We share a common driveway. We have no strata and I own my own title. We do pay common insurance for the driveway each year as well as share water bills for common property but that is it.

My place is a single story 3 bed 1 bath with garage. It’s an older rendered build with a courtyard and space for a second car in front of garage.

I’ve looked up battleaxe and it says 10-20% less in value. Would this be correct?

I will probably staying here for a few more years, as it’s not advantageous for me to sell yet and market is doing some adjustments with negative gearing changes but I probably need to take this into account.

I’m not in a leadership role but maybe one day would like to be.

Last year there was a major conflict between two staff members on my faculty. Involving one staff member (A) swearing at another (B) and not being able to communicate on the team, as A refused to be in the same room as B, so also A didn’t attend faculty meetings. B went to an AP because the HOD didn’t or couldn’t deal with it. B wanted a restorative meeting (or at least an AP to talk to A) but the A refused to participate.

What is the next step, what should have happened? The person B, who wanted remediation or action, subsequently left the school for another job.

I’m perpetually exhausted and burnt out. I’m 53 years old and would love to retire at 60 from teaching but the prospect is becoming slimmer and slimmer with cost of living increasing so much.

I have taken out a mortgage 2.5 years ago, so will have that when I retire as well unless I pay it out with superannuation.

I’m currently sitting on just over 500k in Super and not sure if that would be on target for retiring sooner rather than later.

For those that are experienced with the use. I understand that you are supposed to do 1 tablet week 1, 2 week 2, 3 week 3 and then 4 in the 4th week.

Has anyone stayed on the single dose for a few weeks and then 2 /day for a few weeks etc rather than jumping up to full dose within four weeks.

Is there anyone that has never gone to full dose because they have good loss on the lower dosage?

I’ve been informed by a colleague that students are using meta glasses to take images or recordings of assessments for sharing.

In addition they are filming/taking photos of other students and teachers without their knowledge.

This presents a huge privacy issue.
Not sure how we’re are going to stop this other than banning students from wearing that brand of glasses.

Wonder if anyone else has issue that the draft in principle agreement no longer is there.
