Tribute to my sweet boi

TW Pet loss. I lost my sweet Gary in June. He was a grumpy guy sometimes, but he was my sweetest boy. He went blind and his dementia rapidly worsened, therefore, he could not adapt to being blind. It broke my heart, but he was not living his best life. I hope you can see all the other dogs up there on the rainbow bridge, my sweet Gary! I love you.

MakFAM

I finally got to MakFAM for a belated birthday dinner. Obviously it was delicious but I just had to come here to say I have NEVER eaten a more delicious chicken wing in all my years; and I have a lot of years! I’m from upstate New York and I’m a (buffalo) wing snob. The noodles were amazing as were the sautéed greens. And they had a delicious n/a Pilsner just for me. ☺️

Are there any actual pie shops in Denver?

Hi, this is an oddly specific question but most of the cities I’ve lived in thus far have had really good pie shops. I mean shops that specialize in pie specifically. For some reason, I’m craving a really good pie and wondering if anybody has any spots that they would recommend, second best would be a bakery with really good homemade pie in their lineup. I know I’ve seen some pie vendors at the farmers markets so maybe I should make note of who they are. 🥧

GIVE: never used or barely used queen flat sheets - upcycle ready!

If you are handy with a sewing machine, you could make cute curtains or even a tablecloth with these. Or if you like mix and match bedding, you could use them as sheets! One of these has never even been used or washed and the other one was probably used once or twice because I don’t use a top sheet anymore. Would need to arrange pick up at my apartment. These are 100% cotton percale and from Target.

UPDATE: STILL AVAILABLE.

Lights out in Cap Hill now

Yep, I just heard a very loud boom and the electricity immediately went out… Anybody else? Lesson learned I don’t think I have a phone brick charged and my phones only on 50%.

Edit to add that, yes, I knew it was a transformer blowing out. Now we hunker down and wait.

A Thank You Note for good care and good people

Five weeks ago, I tripped on my way to work and broke my wrist very badly. It was severely dislocated. I also scraped my face against the sidewalk. Needless to say I needed help and this is just a thank you to the kind strangers who stopped and helped me (on the side of the state Capitol.) Some of you called 911, you stayed with me, one of you pulled off the road to make sure I was OK. More thanks to the EMTs who brought me to Denver Health and the amazing team at the ER who took care of me for eight hours.

I ended up needing surgery and it’s been a long recovery so far, but I am very grateful to live in a city with fantastic resources, great healthcare, and good people. Be careful on those sidewalks people.😊

Capitol Hill pizza delivery?

Hi folks, Sexy Pizza used to be my go to for delivery pizza but last time I ordered, the medium pizza was the size of what was their previous small. also, the pizza was undercooked and quality seemed down. Disappointing but $40 for a small pizza doesn’t seem appropriate to me anymore, so simply put, I’m looking for your favorite pizza delivery in and around Capitol Hill. I’m usually just like a straight up New York style kind of pizza lover as I’m from upstate looking for locally owned spots if possible. Note: Excuse the questionable punctuation I’m recovering from a broken wrist on my dominant side and using voice to text. Thanks in advance.

Free purina Neuro care dog food

This is an incredibly specific item to be giving away, but my wonderful dog passed away and I have a 90% full bag of Purina Neurocare food that I had bought for him. This is for dogs that are showing signs of cognitive decline. It’s expensive and I would love to give it to a dog that might need it. I don’t think any of the local pet pantries take open food. Anyway, I broke my arm, so I’m not mobile and I can’t drop it off, but if anybody wants it dm me and you can arrange pick up hence why I cannot take a picture of the food bag.

Home helper? Need a hand with some simple household tasks for hire.

Has anybody had experience hiring a mother’s helper or such in Denver? I don’t need nursing care but I need an extra set of hands because I broke my damn wrist and it’s on my dominant hand and I can’t do shit for myself. I guess I could look on care.com but let me know if you have any actual referrals that you’re willing to share. Thanks.

Selegilene

Hi folks, my little guy who’s 12 to 13 years old started selegiline today and I’m wondering if anybody had experience with side effects of lethargy and how long it lasted. He’s just kind of sitting there like a lump right now. Obviously I know I need to watch him over the next days and weeks but interested if anybody had experience with this. Thanks!

I think my pup is part rat terrier

My Foster fail is an adorable pup. Chihuahua mix and I’m thinking rat terrier as well. She loves to worry her toys to death.

Miffy

Just wanted to introduce my first foster dog who may turn into a foster fail, but I’m trying to let it manifest organically.🤣 she was bullying my resident dog and I was ready to ask them to find a Foster replacement but she has turned a corner and he is getting his pep back in his step after being a little shut down. Anyway, she sure is cute. These Chihuahuas (she’s a mix) are a piece of work!

Civic Center Eats recos?

My favorite food truck is no longer at Civic Center eats and just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for the new lineup where they’ve enjoyed the food over the last couple of weeks? Thanks in advance. (Yes I know they are expensive and I’m not concerned about it.)

Foster dog resource guarding me.

I’m going to try to keep this brief so people read it. First time Foster mom here, two days ago brought home a 12 pound Chihuahua mix who is an absolute love bug Velcro dog and I adore her. However she is resource guarding me against my 17 pound senior blind Chihuahua mix. At the end of the day, his quality of life is the most important. Just wondering if people have experience with this and if it will potentially fade out? I keep her on a leash, but she tries to nip him. If she sees him she starts growling at the end of the day. I can absolutely keep fostering and allow her to be adopted, but I would love for both of them to get along and right now she’s spending a fair amount of crate time because I can’t constantly referee. Any thoughts most appreciated. I’m trying to show them both that I have love to give both of them and I can have them sit with me in between and pet them and if she nips I put her down. Maybe I’m giving her too many one-on-one snuggles.
