Why is Aramaic not being taught in schools for Syrians?

Aramaic is an extremely important part of our history and heritage, shouldn't this language that emerged from within our people be taught to us in schools as a second language at least?

Instead some Syrians feel ashamed of our history and the language of their ancestors, and prefer to associate themselves with the Arabs from the peninsula/khaleej which is super cringe.

I honestly want a Standardized version of ancient Syrian Aramaic to be used in our country, the name Modern Syriac really sounds cool ngl!

It appears Syrian Muslims are closer to West Anatolian turks, while Syrian Christians are closer to Saudi arabs on average?
