Question re carbon monoxide alarm

So, heard a low battery alarm in our house, believed it was the fire alarm changed battery etc to no avail, so believed it was to do with the electrics - asked landlord to send electrician. Turns out the alarm was from the carbon monoxide unit, single standing non mains unit. Landlord is now saying i should pay for the electrician, yet i didnt know it would be the carbon monoxide alarm as they sound identical.

Where do i stand on this charge?
