Scale? Callousing?

Golden Rat Tail Cactus- what are these spots? I thought maybe scale but the quills go through them? And black spots at the base of the quills (last photo)?

Scale?

Does this look like scale to anyone else? Sorry about the first photo, it’s hard to get a picture of that recessed part.

Orchid Cactus Media

Recently ordered 2 orchid cactus to retry my hand at growing them. I had one, it was huge but all of a sudden went downhill and I dk why. So I’m starting again with 2 new ones. What would you guys use to plant them? Chunky soil mix (dances IYKYK), or a cactus mix- currently I have Molly’s Succulent & Cactus Mix.

P. Tortum… Pests?

Watering: when dry or almost dry.
Light: west window - buffalo, NY
I found this beautiful tortum at Home Depot a few weeks ago. I’ve had it quarantined away from other plants since but went to bring it in today and noticed this. I don’t see any movement, no visible pests but saw these lighter spots on the top with other spots on the back. I sprayed the bageebus out of it yesterday with my garden hose to loosen all soil and clean the leaves more before I pot it in a chunky mix. I didn’t notice these spots before I sprayed it. Is it just damage from the hose? Or do I need to treat it for something?

New growth on some Hoya

Cute little baby peduncle. But I’m wondering why some Hoya, even the not fuzzy species, look almost fuzzy where there’s new growth? Like it looks like a floating piece of fuzz gets stuck to it but it isn’t. Does anyone know why they do this? Also- It’s not pests, none on this Hoya at all.

Hoya Rotundiflora… help?

Sorry I’ve been posting so much, i have a lot of Hoya and am very much trying to get my collection as healthy as i can- I’m getting more into Hoya lately. I’ve had her for a few years, she’s actively growing… but the leaves look terrible. I’m thinking root rot maybe? Do I repot into a chunky mix? I’m thinking of chopping and propping as well to make her more full? What would you guys do?

How would you root?

Got this little Lacunosa ‘Amarillo’ as a freebie with an order. How would you root it? And how could you just lay it flat?

Flat Mites

How often do you reapply Bonide Sulfur Fungicide to a Hoya with flat mites? This is my first time with flat mites and I want them GONE. Please help. 💚 they are on my fav Hoya. 🥺😩 it’s currently in my garage away from other plants.

Please excuse the dog hair, my husbands dog never stops shedding.

The ONLY Holofoil I’ve Found

Leave it to me to find the least rare one. I’ve now found 3 of the same exact one. He’s even bored with himself.

What’s Happening?!

Orchid cactus
Indoors only
Watering, when dry (every week to 2 weeks) it’s in a plastic pot inside a decorative pot, the pot inside is elevated about an inch from the bottom of the ceramic pot.
I’ve had it for appx 5 years.
Buffalo, NY.
In a west window with plants around it that don’t show any signs of pests, which makes me wonder if it’s the plant itself having problems.
I use systemic granules (could it be from those??? Like burning or salt buildup?)
Please tell me this isn’t scale.

Do I just give up and throw it out? Please help. I don’t want to lose it or the plants around it.

Pitcher Plant Gift

I’ve always loved pitcher plants but have never dared to get one, I know they can be touchy. My dad got this for me yesterday and now I’m terrified imma kill it. Anyone know which it is? Any care tips? Can I spray it with insecticidal soap (leaves no pods) just in case? Or do I even need to? Not sure if they eat typical houseplant pests (spider mites, mealy bugs, thrips, etc). My plants are happy and healthy so I like to spray new plants when they come in as a precaution. Any help is welcome… I want it to do well. Thanks in advance! 🥰💚

Maxillaria tenuifolia Recommendations

I’ve had this awkward little baby for a couple years (it started out with like one bulb maybe 2. She’s getting bigger and more awkward. How would you manage this? Or is there a way to encourage outward growth instead of upward? Lol. — planning on repotting once I have some kind of game plan for it. I’d like to stabilize it. Can’t put it in a basket- it’s too dry here most times.

Annoying but funny

Glad my sound wasn’t on because I literally WTF’d lol. But had Jetpack in inventory - it was not equipped (shotguns were) and bounced but my glider would not deploy, no matter how many times I spammed the button and of course took fall damage. I play on PS5.

I’m in the market for new clippers (not extremely large ones as both dogs are small) and looking for some clipper recommendations please. I have a 14# F3 mini Aussiedoodle (1st group of 4 photos) and a 9# JRT with what I was told is considered a broken coat (2nd group of 4 photos). I will post photos of both dogs with long hair and shaved. I’m thinking I’ll need 2 different clipper types for them, which is fine. I love both my girls and I love them fluffy BUT they are both extremely active dogs who love water so long hair is not an option. We do our own clipping, it’s not perfect but we know this and prefer it this way- we’ve been doing it for about 2 1/2 years now. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!
