I built a dashboard to explore how India has changed over time

There are endless arguments about whether India is doing better or worse. Everyone has their narrative set but no one cares to actually look what the actual data is.

But actually looking at the data can be surprisingly difficult. The numbers are spread across government reports, surveys, PDFs and different portals, often with different definitions and time periods.

So I built India Over Time, which started as a curiosity and turned into a full project of its own.

It brings together public data across different sectors indicators, and lets you explore how India has changed, how states compare, and where India stands relative to other countries.

It's still very much a work in progress, so I'd genuinely appreciate feedback. If something looks wrong or misleading, or if there are datasets or questions you'd like to see added, let me know.

I built an interactive dashboard to explore India's progress over the last two decades.

I recently built https://indiaovertime.com, an interactive dashboard that brings together publicly available datasets to explore India's progress over time.

The goal wasn't to argue for any particular narrative, but to make it easier to inspect the data yourself.

Some of the sections include:

- India Today – where India currently stands across a range of indicators.

- India Since 2005 – two decades of time-series trend comparison.

- Before & After 2014 – comparison between 2005–2014 and 2015–2024 across multiple metrics.

- India & the World – comparisons with other countries.

- By Domain – analysis across 27 questions covering the economy, governance, social development and environment.

- The Long Record – historical indicators going back to the 1960s where data is available.

Everything is based on publicly available data from official or widely used international sources. Every metrics has been cited its source data and a detailed methods section as well is there for anyone to explore it.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or criticism. The project is still evolving, and I'd like to make it a genuinely useful public resource.

Looking for salary benchmark advice: Founding Engineer (4 YOE)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently exploring the job market and wanted to get a sense of realistic compensation expectations.

Current Background:

  • 4 years of total experience
  • Last 2.5 years as a Founding Engineer at an early-stage startup
  • Current CTC: ₹21 LPA

My work is at the intersection of biology, data, and AI. I primarily build data platforms, knowledge systems, and AI-powered tools for biological research and drug discovery, working closely with biotech and research teams.

I'm currently interviewing for roles such as:

  • Senior GenAI / Applied AI Engineer
  • Data Scientist
  • Senior Analytics roles

For a switch, I'm targeting ₹28-30 LPA.

A few questions:

  1. Is ₹28-30 LPA reasonable for someone with my background and experience in the current market?

  2. What compensation ranges are people with ~4 YOE seeing for similar roles?

Would appreciate insights from anyone who has switched recently in the Gen AI/data space.
