Leftist behaving like Trads

I don't know if many of you have noticed this but so many leftists end up being Trads in different clothing. What I mean by this is the way some leftists go so far with their purity testing that they end up acting exactly like the TradCaths and Evangelicals they hate so much. I especially notice this when they morally police other leftists, liberals, and progressives. As an Ex-TradCath, this truly disturbs me and it feels like a good number of those who leave the Church go straight to activism without first actively deconstructing the black and white mindset they were taught. Just my observation.

Catholicism and other high control forms of Christianity thriving in countries hurt the most by proselytizism.

Has anyone noticed how Catholicism and Evangelicalism seem to thrive in countries hurt the most by the proselytizism at the hands of colonial empires. On both sides of my heritage (Irish and Filipino) the Catholic Church has aided and abetted in the brutal colonialism that wiped out so much of the original culture and even destroyed records of their pre-christian mythologies and religious traditions. Yet, the Church still flourishes relatively well in both countries. This phenomenon even applies to Spanish- Speaking America, Africa, and parts of Asia. Why do the people of these countries struggle so hard to accept that the Catholic Church helped make it all possible for them to get absorbed by the vile colonialists and that the Evangelical Churches are a continuation of that? I'd love to hear everyone's take on this.

Far-Right Traditional Catholicism: The Ugly Face Behind The Mask Of Mainstream Catholicism

On my journey out of Traditionalism and then leaving Catholicism all-together I have come to see the Trads as the ugly face behind the mask. I say this because Vatican II gave a false impression of the Church finally being willing to take accountability and actually grow with the times. However, nothing about the promises of Vatican II was real. It was all a PR stunt.

Paul VI's disastrous "Humanae Vitae" encyclical revealed the truth that the Church was still the same old tyrannical institution it always was and always will be. How much more oppressive can you be when you still demand catholic families breed like rabbits and prevent women from having control over their own bodies?! How are you reconciling with the world when you still refuse to take true accountability for the bloody history of your institution?! Do you really think this is fooling anyone?! Are we really supposed to believe the pretty words of the Second Vatican Council suddenly make everything all better?!

It's really pretty strange that the presence of SSPX and other Trad groups disturbed the Vatican the way it did. So they would rather continue to use the Old Rite mass and sacraments and continue to use the harsher language of your past. Why was Rome so bothered by that? Are the Trads really that different from the Church at large? I don't think so.

The only thing that makes the post Vatican II Church different from the Trads is that they use prettier language to enforce their oppressive teachings. The Trads are just being honest about what the Church is and always was. And that's how Traditionalism is nothing more than the ugly face under the lovely mask of the Post-Vatican II Catholic Church.

How to stay motivated when feeling like a loser

I have a job but 17 an hour just won't do it. My car is going to die soon, my wife has lots of health needs, can't afford decent health insurance, everything has to go rent, groceries, and utilities and nothing is left to pay off debts I took just to survive. On top of that I feel like I can't get qualified for a better job due to financial concerns. How do you all stay motivated in times like these?

Liberal/Leftist Catholics

What do you all think of left-leaning Catholic parishes? I have personally seen a sea of white hair every time I've been to these parishes.

Movies, games, or songs that are good cartharsis against the trauma of Traditional or Conservative Catholicism.

For me personally it's the original Final Fantasy VII. I interpret Shinra, Inc. as an allegory for Corporate Fascism and Sephiroth as the embodiment of High Control Religion. I'm genuinely curious what media the rest of you consume to vent against your upbringing.
