Pretty sloppy renders I did last night, I was exhausted so there are little things I didnt even notice before going to bed (like the sofa.) But, eh..

ANYWAY.

So, as ya know, I'm obvs posting my progress on Blender here! And today I wanted to learn how to mess around with textures, starting with something simple

That being simplifying the textures to give em a sort of flat, almost cel shaded look

And while it didn't work that great.. Uh-

I'll get there!!! :3

I'm not gonna pretend that this trilogy are games I like going back to, or even Lara Croft models I prefer! I love the more grounded and puzzle focused games, and I just prefer the older Lara models because those are the ones I was obsessed with when I was a kid (so like 2010 lmao, I was born in 05)

HOWEVER. The three DRASTICALLY different models for the Survivor trilogy are GORGEOUS. And, well, I've been doing retro renders.. figured, I should show some love to these models 👀

You guys ever see that game "Pools" on Steam? Jeez laweez it's GORGEOUS. Anyway, uh.. I love psychological horror. Hell, I even MAJOR in psychology at College (I'm going for criminology but let's not get into that, I'd be here all day-)

SO if you live where I do, that being South Africa, you can vouch for me on this..

Not once have I ever seen ANYTHING Tomb Raider related here, except for some people selling their old Tomb Raider copies in bundles of games on Facebook.

So you can imagine my shock when I walked into a small game store at the mall near where I live, and found this. My brother was like "Ask them if they have any Tomb Raider stuff!" Which, I was doubtful of, because they don't even have any of the *GAMES.*

But the lady like, had the biggest smile on her face and went to the back, then came out with THIS. This AND the 30th anniversary one! (I chose this one instead because yknow, Underworld is goated).

WOWZA. MY FIRST PIECE OF TOMB RAIDER MERCH!! YAY!!!!!

But in all seriousness, the big issue I wanna bring up is Ai. I'd like to ask before I even consider buying LOA, is it gonna have AI assets and textures in it?

I've heard rumors. And if that's the case, thennnn.. Back to Anniversary it is!

WELL HELLO THERE!! I do renders, just started, not great tbh! But, I'm having a ton of fun <3

SO. NieR.. I'm not an *active* fan. I do wanna try it out soon, just.. Kinda didnt have a console or powerful enough pc to run it-

BUTT. I remember my younger self seeing her character design when the game launched, and GOSH she looks so damn cool. Like I get it, haha she's hot, *insert innuendo* (or not, I'm not sure how the actual fan base is), but like.. Everything about her just always *SCREAMED* swagger to me. She just looks so effortlessly cool, and I guess I'll find out if thats true or not when I get around to playing the game!!

But, as a bit of appreciation for a design that's always stuck with me, here's a silly little render I did of her <3 *IN MY OWN STYLE!!* I know it looks kinda odd, I go for that! I'm heavily inspired by the cgi cutscenes I grew up with and try to take elements from the presentation of those 🐇🍭

Hey. Hey guess what.. got myself an 8gb stick of ram.. FOR LIKE 75 DOLLARS!!

My laptop came with 8gbs of ram, renders took quite a bit ofcourse. Being in South Africa, the ram prices here ARE pretty ridiculous like they are overseas..

But I found someone selling an 8gb stick. For 75 dollars. My brother is a huge tech nerd and he said it's a good brand, its ddr5 and 5600mhz so I was surprised too, BUT ITS HELPING OUT SO MUCH!! Took NO time to render these! :>

PLUS, PLUS!! I can now use cycles without my laptop having a complete heart attack! Isn't that neat? <3

Anyway.

When I FIIRSSSTTT started using Blender, the very first thing I did was put Lara Croft on.. The Cube. It looked awful, didnt know how to pose or do anything. So, as a celebration, I decided to redo my first ever attempt at making a scene!

Now, I didnt just.. have the backdrop set up, BUT. Given that, Tina Armstrong is on equal standing when it comes to the sheer impact they had on my little brain as a child 😭 I wanted to use an effect I saw on a Tina poster from way back then, and ultimately settled on using her Anniversary model for it!

Why is she pointing a gun at herself, you may ask? Well, originally, I had her doppelganger set up to be the reflection, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.. So, I gave up, restarted the project from scratch, and did this instead! I think it turned out.. okay-? 🥹

I was doing a Dead Or Alive render, had the background up, and was like...

Wait.

Yknow what..

This FMV model of Lara would look sick with this backdrop.

The third one isn't. The Playstation magazine had some of the most *vile* Lara Croft stuff I've ever seen and it's absolutely hilarious 😭

THE THIRD PICTURE KEEPS FAILING TO PROCESS ON REDDIT, I'M GONNA TURN INTO BULLY MAGUIRE MYSELF HOLY CRAP.

Decided to do 2 of Tina Armstrong's outfits from DOA5LR in a ps2 style! They're still the exact same models, just with some good ol' rendering magic :3

I debated on making them look more like the Dreamcast models instead, because DOA2's glossy models on that console KICK ASS.. and Ultimate also looks amazing, buuuuttt..

I ultimately settled for basing em on the ps2 release! <3

And ofcourse it was gonna be Tina. It's always Tina. If it weren't for her and her Southern accent, I wouldn't have gotten into Dead Or Alive to begin with >:D

So, the base of this was like, hella bland.. Im not entirely sure how to work the lighting and shaders and whatnot in Blender, BUTTT I do have some experience with post image edits, ssooooooo.. YEAH!!

Idk, I'm hoping that as I get better at Blender, I'll get closer to the visions I randomly think of, like this one! Though this was just a super quick one, super basic, I have no idea what I'm doing.
