Trapped in false reality/matrix type horror stories.

I am very interested in the topic of the simulation theory, and hence, I love stories that tackle this.

Please recommend to me horror fiction that is mostly about or has a major twist involving characters trapped in a fake reality, i.e Smile 2. Mostly just want film and shows, but books and comics and games are welcome too.

Tv Show Mandela Effect/Retcon: Castle aired in 2009 now?!?

Ok, so I never actually watched this series, but I still remember seeing ads for it as a child.

The thing is, I remember seeing them back in like 2005/2006. And from what I gathered/remember, it seemed like the show had already been out for like a year or 2 at that point.

But a few years ago, I found out this show supposedly started airing in 2009.

This is really confusing to me as first off, I remember seeing and hearing the word Castle 🏰 and the scroll 📜 they had in the ads back then, so idk what else I could be confusing it with. Also, my house was set up totally different from 2005/2006 vs. 2009, but my memories say the setup was pre 2009. In 2009, I remember seeing the free TV box thing and them switching to digital in 2009. I have no memories of seeing the box back then, nor talk of them switching to digital.

I know I was young, but I think my internal clock and date keeper was functioning then. I am just rather confused about it. Kinda unsettling tbh.

Does anyone else remember it airing several years before it 'actually' did?

(PS: No, this is not Bones, I remember seeing the ads on ABC, plus Bones seem to have come out earlier than I remember, but I am not sure. Also, there are no scrolls in the promos anymore, but pens are still there, this is weird)

Castle air date Mandela Effect, Castle no longer aired in 2005 or 2006, but started airing in 2009.

Zombie media Mandela Effect: 'I Am A Hero' used to be 'I Am Hero'

Does any else here remember the manga/film called I Am A Hero being I Am Hero? Several others have agreed. I mean, the title I remember stuck out, as it was kinda Engrishy, plus it made me think of the film I Am Legend. Having an 'a' in it kinda ruins the cool factor of the title imo.

Which version of Boogiepop do you like the most?

I personally like Boogiepop Phantom the most. The first LN was OK, what I read of it at least, but over halfway through and it is not hitting like BP. Part of it is too much needles banter and stuff, but I think Boogiepop is a concept that does better in anime form as music and movements and pictures(LN has pics, but not many) give it that creepy and dreamy feel.

What is your favorite episode of Boogiepop Phantom, assuming you have one?

My favorite episode is probably Interlude. I love the concept of a monster slowly exposing itself over and over with the use of memory wipes. Honestly could stand as a hour long film unconnected to Boogiepop Phantom.

Light in Darkness was good too, but mostly because a boy eating astral/emotional creepy crawlies is cool.

Kinda disappointed with the first LN, are all of them this 'fillery'?

I love Boogiepop Phantom for its wonderfully creepy and dreamy vibes. Even though the storytelling is soso, I honestly think it does the atmosphere carried anime much better than Serial Experiments Lain does, though tbf I have not watched any of SEL yet, only clips. I have not seem the 2019 adaptation, but heard mixed reviews, mostly negative.

Unfortunately, the LN, so far at least, is not hitting the same. I mean, it definitely has its good moments, but I think it has too much...filler?

What I mean by that, is that unlike BP, Boogiepop and Others has WAY more irrelevant moments. I mean like there are parts were several pages are just dating talk or somesuch. There are other parts that were unliked by me as well, but not really enough to say they need cutting.

I should mention that I am like a little over half way through it. I hope there is more Manticore action or something.

Are the other novel this full of boring filler? If not, I might march on. But if so, I think I will just check out the mangas or spinoff LN, possibly the BaO anime.

Very blunt and eerie 9/11 predictive programming from the anime Blue Gender

One of the best examples of this is not even from the USA, but from a 90's meca anime, lol!!!

Would a herbivorous dinosaur be able to subsist on modern plants in the modern era?

I know plants were supposedly much less varied during the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. Many of the plants now like grasses and nearly all of the modern trees either did not exist then or were just forming. This means the herbivorous dinosaurs were used to eating stuff like ferns and fern trees, and may not be able to deal with the toxins and differences in nutrients in the modern plants(well ferns can be toxic, but different toxic)

How boned would a herbivorous dinosaur be if it had to live on say a deserted island with just modern plants?

What common products come from a wildly different source in your verse(s)?

By this, I mean do basic goods like food, wood, metal, etc., come from somewhere we would consider ludicrous irl?

Does milk come from squids? Do eggs come from plants? Or maybe meat is mined from the ground in slabs instead of butchered from carcasses? Is gold is from a special type of livestock?

I know a game called OFF does this. Things like meat are but one of the common elements there like how earth is in ours(or most fiction tbh).

I have not used it yet, but I am thinking about using the concept in one of mine. Milk would come from triphibious, grazing squid. Meat would be mined from the ground, and eggs would be grown on plants.
