Calling all Instant Pot users

How long do you PC for? I don’t know how I’ve gotten this far with only moderate contam issues, but I somehow JUST discovered (after several years in the hobby) that my IP is only reaching 11.6 PSI maximum. I work with grain (millet specifically because it’s the easiest for me to get but will take any info) and LME agar pretty much exclusively. I think I have the agar down but I don’t love testing the odds by basing the grain cook time off 15 psi teks. Up to this point I think I’ve just had blind luck but now that I know, I’d like to avoid this kind of grief in the future

Afraid to speak up at this point

So I’ve been on 40mg generic Strattera (atomoxetine) for around 3 years now. All of the side effects have dissipated at this point except for the irritability, which wouldn’t be a SUPER huge issue if it didn’t turn into straight rage when I’m doing something even remotely frustrating (like building a project where two parts refuse to fit together.) It’s rare for me to be in a situation like that at all, but when I am (and I’m alone, I can hold it together if I’m with people) I get angry enough to throw things if I don’t walk away. Completely unlike me. I don’t remember when it started, I just know it was sometime in the beginning and the positives of the meds were so great I just brushed it aside and I should NOT have done that, and now I feel like my med manager is gonna be angry even though I didn’t mean to hide the truth. Anyone else delt with this?

More overlay or baby mushies?

First ochra grow here, 2nd grow overall. This is more of an experimental trial run for me. Having some issues getting the conditions right to get pins. Lid is currently propped slightly open for more FAE and I’m fanning and misting 3-4x a day when droplets appear to have dried. Not sure if I’m allowed to mention where I got the genetics or tub from but I will if need be for discussion of tendency to overlay. I have a couple tiny bonus cakes made from scraps from spawning this tub that are literally just sitting on my desk in half open freezer bags that gave me like 1 tiny mushroom each. I appreciate any advice in advance!

What kinds of meditation helped you?

I won’t get into details but a single weirdly personal traumatic event sent me into 24/7 DR about 10 years ago (I was 15, I’m 26 now.) I am trying all the other stuff (eating well, drinking water, getting good sleep) as well as Strattera for professionally diagnosed ADHD (I’m only mentioning that here because I wasn’t sure if it was relevant for advice, please don’t ban me just let me know and I’ll edit the post!) I’ve been into general body-relaxation forms of meditation for several years now, but I still struggle to feel grounded to my environment. So much has changed around me in a decade that it’s like this weird form of amnesia, it’s like my brain doesn’t have anything familiar to “grab onto.” Are there any specific exercises, kinds of meditation, YouTube videos that seem to help? I have no health insurance and so other avenues are unavailable to me at present. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Recs for small gourmet grows?

Wasn’t sure where else to ask this. So I’m decently familiar with mushroom growing, but I didn’t start with gourmet species and I’d like to move into that part of the hobby. Unfortunately I live in Southeast TN (zone 7b) in an apartment with only a small shaded patio for a grow space. I know oysters are pretty voracious, so I planned to start with those; but is a 5 gallon bucket the smallest grow that will succeed? I don’t mind growing outside in the summer but winter might be difficult if I can’t move inside. Can I use aspen chips for the media if I can’t find hardwood smoker pellets? Finally, are there any other species besides oysters that I could grow either indoors or outdoors (or both) with minimal input/investment? Thanks so much for any info!

Preflowers? How to tell M/F?

Popped four reg Northern Lights around April 1st. This is my first time with anything other than feminized seeds; can anybody help me differentiate (what I think) are the preflowers on these? Do I need to give them a little more time to be able to tell clearly? Thanks!

Prepping for November

Wasn’t sure where else to get opinions on this. I know every grower has their favorite strains and this is a very broad question but I’d still like some perspective: any recommendations for must-have modern or legacy strains that I should snatch up before it gets near-impossible to do so? I can’t spend *a ton* right now, but I’m willing to drop some cash in preparation for losing easy access to US seed banks. I already picked up some Northern Lights and Skunk #1 from Todd, and I’m learning how to clone and breed for myself. I can’t go too crazy but I absolutely love growing and I don’t want to have to quit, and I live in a deep red state with no in-person community to trade seeds with or I’d just result to that. I’m hoping for the best and trying to prep for the worst :)

Tried to make the title short but specific. Essentially, I just feel lost and like I can’t seem to get on the path I’m meant to take both materially and spiritually. I feel like everyone around me is successful with their careers, all these good things are happening to them and I can’t seem to make those same things happen for myself. I feel very “stuck” or even sometimes like I’m moving backwards instead of forwards. Like a seedling that can’t get its cotyledons out of the shell. I appreciate any and all insights, thank you 🩷

I’m shocked. This grain jar was knocked up on 4/27. Granted it was isolate so maybe I’ve just forgotten how much faster it is to skip the germination step, but still. I’m sold, yellow umbos are next on the list.

Just found an opening through an agency for one of their lab techs, $23/hr but it’s temp with a weird schedule. Anybody done this or worked there? How was it? Did they hire you when it was over? I’m a good fit and the pay is tempting but I’m not sure I want to leave my pt for something not guaranteed.
