AITK for not wanting to throw a party?? Became the scapegoat!

Heyy all,

So this is what happened. I recently got married and one of the places where I go for a side hustle which is a freelance job, I invited all the staff and my colleagues there for my wedding. None of them came for the wedding, all stating different different reasons - fine, okay, might have been busy, whatever, I didnt bother much.

Now two months later I return to this place, and one of my superiors there calls all the staff and says madam has just gotten married she will give a biriyani party to all. I laugh it off thinking its a joke but no he makes the staff give me a name list and fixes a date also for a lunch party, all the while asking its ok no madam, to me, in front of the entire staff.

At this point im uncomfortable so I mention that I already invited them all to the wedding and they didnt come. So their loss. But he keeps insisting.

Finally the day before this unwanted party, I get a call from the staff asking that madam everyone is asking about the party tomorrow is it confirmed they dont have to bring lunch na?? At this point, out of pure awkwardness, I say yes okay I will give lunch.

So eventhough I didnt want to, I blow a hole in my pocket and order lunch for 50 people, costing me 10k adding on to an already struggling financial situation post wedding due to relocation and switching jobs.

And the best part ?? Atleast the staff thanked me for lunch, this senior just said madam in veg what you had ordered was not even a biriyani, it was a pulao only.

I felt really bad. As it is I never wanted to do this, these are not people I work with every day, they are ones I see maybe five times a month. Still I thought Im giving food, I should do it in a good way. And this is the comments I got in return. It feels like such a crap situation, like hello, I never even wanted to throw this party, you guys forced it out of me and then you criticise. Felt like a waste of money.

How could I have handled this differently? And not become a scapegoat?

Bulk biriyani supply in Chennai

Hey Chennai!!!

Calling out to all you biriyani lovers

I want to feed a large group of people at my place of work. Approx 50 ppl.

I dont want to order this overhyped stuff from buhari/SS/yaa moideen etc

I have heard of many bulk biriyani suppliers who make the OG chennai biriyani, mostly around Royapettah area I guess?

So wanted to find out any recommendations??

  1. Does anyone know which is the best??
  2. What are the prices like??
  3. Do they deliver or we need to pick it up?
  4. And how much should I order, like will 1kg suffice for 5 ppl? Which is better chicken or mutton??

Taste should be good, and reasonably priced too.
But Wanting to know who are the good suppliers there?

Zerowatts versus Ashokarsh?

This post is for ppl in Chennai

I have to choose between two wedding photography teams

One is Zero watts

One is Ashok Arsh

The quote is more or less between 2.4-2.5L to cover 4 events of the wedding

Zero watts - strong candid photos, like their pictures better but they are a bit non-flexible and it takes some headbutting to accommodate our requests. Album is premium and work is classy.

Ashok arsh - very flexible, sales team guy accommodating whatever we want quickly. Photos are good but more of the kind which covers a traditional south indian wedding. Unsure whether they will be able to cover our bengali wedding well and give us the kind of output we want.

Other concerns are - two or three ppl in the wedding planning business seem to be leaning towards zerowatts

So

Has any couple here have any real life experience with any of these two? Care to share?
