For Each Point You Succeed By? [In the Clutches of Chaos spoilers]

Pretty straightforward question, but I somehow can’t remember/find the ruling:

Difficulty is 2
I commit a card so I can test at a 4
I pull a -2

So I succeed, but I succeed by 0, so I don’t move any breaches?

Turn of a Page Chronology

I know it’s not the most well-regarded bit of DLC here, but having come to Mansions from the Arkham Horror LCG, I’m really interested in Turn of a Page.

I haven’t played either ToaP or The Drowned City yet, so I don’t want to spoil one or the other. I know FFG usually does a good job of keeping material (even crossover material) separate, but still…

Does Turn of a Page happen before or after The Drowned City? Is it meant to lead you into the LCG campaign?

If anyone’s played both, do you have a recommended order?

To “Return To” or not to “Return To”

That is the question.

I have the return to box for The Forgotten Age and The Circle Undone, and I’ve heard that at least the TCU one fixes some problems from the original campaign. I plan to start my blind play of TCU today, but I want to know:

Do you recommend that I incorporate Return to The Circle Undone right up front, or should I save it for a second play?

Substitute for The Drowned City?

Lately I’ve heard some (largely unsubstantiated) rumors that The Drowned City may be getting a reprint. I don’t want to get my own or anyone else’s hopes up, knowing the king of stunts Asmodee has been pulling lately, so my question is this:

What is a good substitute for The Drowned City?

I’ve heard that Cyclopean Foundations does better justice to R’lyeh and has some of the epic flavor that TDC missed out on. I have also heard good things about Alice in Wonderland and how it handles a similar “play it in either direction” mechanic to the one TDC has. What other thoughts or recommendations do people have?

Edit: I have Dark Matter, Carcosa (played 8/8), TCU, TFA, TDE, Innsmouth (played 6/8), & Children of Blood.

I’m slowly but surely working my way through the ones I haven’t played, so this will be after I work through my backlog

My last order of sleeves!!! (& take two horror)

I made the really poor choice of getting two different kinds of sleeves for my collection: a variety of matte/gloss ones for single-sided cards, and some gloss/gloss ones for anything double sided.

Today, I ran out of both varieties of sleeves close to the end of Axolotl’s Dark Matter, and tomorrow, I pick up my copy of Children of Blood. With 200 double-sided sleeves and 450 single-sided on order, I will soon be 100% caught up on sleeving my collection. As such, I’ve come here to celebrate!
(or commiserate, commiserating’s good too)

For anyone who’s curious, I have:

The 2026 core
The path to Carcosa (full cycle)
The forgotten age + return to (full cycle)
The circle undone + return to (full cycle)
The dream eaters (full cycle)
The Innsmouth conspiracy (…full cycle)
All 10 investigator packs (old & new)
Murder @ Excelsior
Film Fatale
The Essex County Express mythos pack
and soon, Children of Blood

And a TTG printing of:

The OG encounter packs
Axolotl’s Erich Zann
Axolotl’s Dark Matter + Science Expansion
Mythos Busters’ Consternation on the Constellation
And of course, 8L-08 Smith

It took (+/-, including my upcoming order):

1,200 gloss/gloss sleeves (6 packs)
3,150 gloss/matte sleeves (7 packs)

For a grand total of +/- 4,350 sleeved cards!

For my own dwindling sanity, I will spare you all the math on how much I spent on sleeves alone for this magnificent, malevolent game, but suffice it to say that it was around $0.07 usd/sleeve.

An Inquiry About Tariffs

Hey everybody! I'm trying to get my hands on and out of print expansion to the Arkham horror card game, and I found one at a really good price, but it comes out of France. I'm in the United States. I am hesitant to go for it because I have another vendor in Canada who can get me the same pack at a higher price, but shipped with other items I'm getting.

My main object is to avoid paying double or triple what I was planning to spend because of tariffs and brokerage fees. If I get it from Canada, it would be one fee for an entire set, but if I get it from France, and it has a high brokerage fee, it will end up costing me more. That said, it costs *substantially* less (almost $20 less) from France, including shipping.

Does anyone have experience with getting board game materials from the EU lately? Especially off of eBay? How bad are the fees? I can’t get a straight answer out of eBay or any other amalgam of sites.

Ch1 Investigator Decks?

I have all of Chapter 2 so far, and I’ve been picking off bits and pieces of Chapter 1 as they become available at a decent price. In that endeavor, I managed to nab the rogue, seeker, and mystic investigator decks from Chapter 1. So…

How are the decks for Stella Clark (Survivor) and Nathaniel Cho (Guardian)?

I might be able to get both at an okay price (above retail, alas), but I do have a decently robust collection of investigator cards, so I’m not strictly hurting for either deck.

Are they worth it? Is there one I should prioritize?

My solution to the (new) Gamegenic problem

There’s been a lot of discourse lately on the unfortunate timing of the new blood tokens. As someone who was strongly considering getting the acrylic token set (as much for the bag as for the tokens themselves), I started searching for other options the moment I knew there would be a new token coming out with the new campaign.

The thing I settled on: coin collecting capsules! I was able to get 200 coin capsules for less than 10 bucks on Amazon. The tokens fit pretty snuggly, so I don’t think I’ll be able to get them back out again if I need to, but I don’t intend on ever taking them out 🤷‍♂️. For less than 10 bucks, I have a way to protect my tokens from normal wear and tear that will be fully compatible with both future and past campaigns. And, I have to say, they look pretty cool!

This is more a PSA to anyone who is still on the fence about the premium tokens, though I would be interested to hear if anyone else does this. I only found out about it as an option when Amazon started recommending the capsules to me after I bought a bunch of sleeves and mythos packs. I hate targeted advertising as much as the next guy, but that recommendation really landed!
